hey ya'll.... Its been awhile, the last episode was the thrash last september to get this thing mocked up and running for a couple of shows. I missed alot of the build, cause it went from a roller to a working unit in like 20 days..... well.... its back in the garage getting some minor issues and cosmetics tended to, and will be alot cooler this spring..... . Tonight I filled the hole in the grill shell..... I cut out the old teardrop section, and welded in a piece of .040 that I hammered over a piece of steel in the vice for the peak...... LUKESTER

then I started refining the homemade pedals. I used 4130 chromoly to make these. I got some expanded metal to use for the surface to make them not so slippery.... LUKESTER

Cool I have been waiting for some progress info.A couple questions. What do you have to do to have a bare metal rod and not a baer rusted rod.Did you have it cleared or what?Show some more of your awesome pics dude.

here is the homemade steering column, I built support rods out of moly, instead of the usual "billet" column drop. The steering wheel is a modified Sprint car piece from the (wal mart of street rodding) I think I am going to discard it, and build my own, anyways the column is chromoly, with some bearings and a piece of .120 wall tubing for the shaft. I want to make something trick to mount the turn signal switch, but am still thinking about that.....The disconnect was made out of steel hex stock and aluminum, so I can remove the wheel to get my tall ass out of the truck....... thats all for now, if anyone cares and missed the prior buildup pics from the last year, there are a bunch of pics on my webspace ... Lukes truck webspace..... (http://my.vbe.com/~vcarlson)

Nice......I always like seeing your fabricated stuff. Now, fabricate your tall ass over to the Willys [pickup?] and lessee you work some of your magic on it...
What do you have in mind for a homemade steering wheel?

Lukester - You are my fucking hot rod hero right now. I think your truck and cleatus' car are two of the most well thought out in progress cars on the board. I can't explain it but I see a lot of similarities between the two.
