I'm just in the planning stages of a 34 Coupe and I'm thinking about "Z"ing the frame at the firewall. I figured on cutting the frame at an angle so that when I slide the front clip up it'll extend the wheelbase a small amount, then taper the bottom of both sections so it looks good and reinforce it all with a boxing plate. I'm thinking a "C" notch at the rear axle would take care of that end. Anyone do this or see it done. Comments appreciated.

Yes- do it where the top"corner" of the Z is in line or behind firewall[ under toe board. Then the lower corner ends up being a great place to put the mounts for the radius rod ends [camo'ing] the Z......biggest plus is -no loss in floor depth.

What frame are you using? If it's a stock Ford frame, my idea is to cut the frame at an angle at the firewall. Upwards towards the front similar to the (very crude) sketches attached. If it were a tube frame just miter cut the tubes to produce the drop you're looking for. My method for the channel frame would extend the wheelbase slightly, which in my case would be good. I cut the frame and laid it on top and actually added a 1 1/2 box tube in between to get it real low. The chassis is a early 30s GM but is similar dimensions to a 34.

The look would be similar either way you do it- but done the way I said earlier the frame comes straight out from firewall and is stepped under floor only- looks better.this one is stretched forwards three" and stepped three"
