Does anybody have any more detailed shots of the Speedway Lo-Boy kit that they put together for SRM a few years back? I'm particularly interested in the headlight mounts and the rear suspension. I might even settle for a detailed description from someone who's seen it. Thanks.

Have a look at the Speedway website, there are great
pictures and descriptions of the kit in there.

Really? All I ever found was that same front 3/4 shot from the catalogue. I guess I'll have to look harder.

It has a very "kit car" looking tube structure that "Z's" up in front of the engine with a cross bar that supports the headlights and the spring mount. It looks very Non-Ford and not at all better looking than the considered-awful Street Beasts Kit car's frames.
It doesnt matter if you keep the hood on I suppose, but if you are looking for "traditional hotrod" looking stuff this isn't the answer. If you're looking for a quite functional design (although visually challenged) it works just fine.
To me, It looks more like a sand rail frame than a hotrod frame.

This shows the outline... I have the assembly manual if you need anything else.

Thanks so much, Mutt. That last drawing is exactly what I needed. Hmm, think I could use '38 Oldsmobile headlights and a four-piece hood on one...?

I don't see why not - Speedway said the body is a standard size roadster body that can be used on a deuce frame, so the sides would be the only modification on the hood.

I've seen a coupe of those Lo-Boys around here and they do make a neat looking little street rod. One of them ws the one from the article.
They have a good stance and the ones I saw were finished well. I guess I just never understood why the frame goes up and then back down again in front.
I'll shut up now...

One last question, then I'll follow the good doctor's example and shut up (actually, I value DrJ's opinions): How is the rear end mounted? I heard quarter-elliptics?

Yes, but it would be pretty easy to use coilovers if you wanted to.
