What gear ratio's were available.
My pops wants to change the gears in his hardtop.
It's got 3.36's in it now, and the 6 is a bit busy on the highway. He'd like to put like high 2's in it.
Is there anything like that available, or am I gunna be doin' a rear end swap.

3.36's are two low??????????
Man tell him to get some taller tires.
3.08 I believe was the highest with the Glide.

3.08 is the highest I have ever seen. It is 37 ring/12 pinion.

I didn't think they made any in the 2's.
At least i havn't come across any.
I've bought and sold probably 20-25 of those and have had 3:08, 3:36's, 3:70's 4:10's but nothing higher than 3:08.

3.08's huh?? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
It's got G78 15's on it. At 60 mph she's revving at 3000.
It's great in town, but he wants to start taking it on long trips.
Sounds like I'm looking for a Camaro 10 bolt.
Thanks for the replies.

If your buzzing 3000 at 60 mph with a G78 tire, it sounds like you have closer to 3.70 rear gears, not the 3.36 gears. A 3.08 should have you doing like 75 mph at 3000. That should be sufficient for your Dad's cruising.

FYI, in my 37 Chevy truck I have that same rearend with 3.08 gears. With a 28 inch tall tire I turn about 3000 at 75 mph.

Nope, no other ratio other than 3:08's...put in a 700R-4...that'll get you into highway cruising mode!
