I was struggling to find a way to make 13" wheels look cool on my Ranchero, and along comes HAMBer Luckystiff with an NOS set of mini trim rings for the falcon wheels. I painted the wheels, airbrushed in a little fade that matches the scallops, and there you have it.

I need something for center caps, I'm thinking of going the "spiders on the cheap" route that was discussed during tech week. Heres a full side view.... Anybody have any opinions on skinny whites on it? I'm thinking I like the blackwall look, but you never know.......

Yeah, I say whites. I had bw's on the II forever and when I finally put whites on it I thought "Why didn't I do it sooner?"
BTW, those wheels look good faded like that. Nice..

I'm not usually a whitewall guy BUT! That leetle 'chero just crys for whitewalls! Medium width would look good, as would some skinnies. It also need either a full-on scallop job or remove the mini scallops already on it...just my opinion, you see.
I feel the same about flames...either slap some FUCKIN FLAMES on that sucker or forget about it. Ghost flames are a pet peve of mine. Don't hint around at maaaaaybe putting flames that you may or may not see....HAMMER SOME TRADITIONAL MAGEE STYLE ORANGE,YELLOW AND RED FLAMES ON IT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE!!!! Flames and scallops were meant to be seen... I like the car..

Rocky, I haven't liked the scallops on the front fenders from the day I put them on it..... They're gonna get redone, but it's my daily, so it may be a while.

You could use ghetto photoshop..Get a roll of 3/4 or 1" white masking tape and voila! Instant skinny whites..If you can't wait to see what it'll look like that is.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like what you did with that front scallop, that was the original idea. I couldn't put it down there without some major reworking of the patterns I made, so it wound up higher on the fender. I was disappointed with it as soon as I finished it, but oh well. Live and learn. I'll redo it sooner or later....

Yep, Mikie nailed it. That wheel treatment -- straight outta Car Craft circa 1961, looks best with narrow whites. The purpose of the chrome trim rings, fade paint, center bullet, and space between the whitewall and wheel is all made to trap the eye.

man i'm so glad ya like 'em. i would surely say go with thin whites and make up some cheapo center bullets and the wheels are done. as for the scallops i agree with if your gonna have a scallop job go crazy with it. or hows about some panels? either would work well and be cool. maybe see if you can get someone here to photoshop up some ideas for you. i got alot of ideas for it but can't photoshop for shit. tried it a bunch and it just ain't my bag. you could always break out a roll of striping tape and lay out different patterns in the garage or yard thats how i do it i lay things out if i'm really playin i'll take pics of what i like to refer to later. just my way. again glad you like 'em and you did an incredible job on the wheels just wrap 'em up in skinnies now and smile...ken....

Thanks, Ken. The wife put the veto on the shrunken head you sent me......I shouldn't bitch though, she begrudgingly let the mirror muff pass.....
