Thanks for the nice pic of my buddies car. Although I haven't seen it in person the pics that John (the owner) showed me a few weeks ago looked really impressive. Do you have any more pics of it?

The grill on that Merc is magnificent. Looks finished with the hood up and down.
I saw it at GNRS ("Pomoakland Roadster Show" -lukejivetalker)
It's a Donn Lowe build, no?
I wanna shoot that Olds soooo bad..
donovandagger (aka Captain Obvious)- Thank you for clearing that up.

1) Pay someone to build your car
2) Take it to a show
3) Leave it in the garage for 20 years or so
Yeah.....That sounds like fun!

that 40 merc is a Harry Bradly design and Donn Lowe Build! 10 years that's been going on in his shop. The grill would look great in an art museum. Donn has the original wood template in his shop. the cost for the grill was $17,500 and that matching radiator in gold was another $2,500 but everything on that car is a perfect blend of fit and finish. there is more than you can take in with the naked eye. I've stopped by and watched the assembly for the last 10 years and am most impressed with the way Donn hand built the bumpers and skirts, Dave Crook came up for a few days to help with the side trim and it was nice to meet him also. I've seen the car in Donn's garage finished but didn't take pictures till I see it on the show floor at the one and only Portland Roadster Show.
It's going to all 4 of Dan Cyr's shows http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif and as usual he's screwed these people for the last time. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif I seriously doubt they will come back again http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Just read that again mate. It sure sounds like you meant... "Fuck you lot, I'm so cool that I'm not going to let you see my car again." No great loss if you ask me.

Except that damn plastic oil filler cap. I'll never be able to figure that bit out. People get these crate motors and shiny them up a bit, but leave the "factory" plastic shit on them.
Apart from that, love that car. Still bummed that he wasn't home when Zapato took me past his place. Maybe next trip. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That Donn Lowe built car is owned by John Babcock out of Chicago. He told me that he 4 west coast shows to do and then the car would come home. I'm sure us mid-west guys will get to see it this summer. Can't wait!
