Just found this board by searching matranga merc on google and flipped when the thread with pics of the original car came up!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen pics of lots of copies and clones but never the real thing before. I'm building my '39 in the matranga style so am looking for any info or pics I can find.

Welcome to the HAMB. It's funny you mentioned the Mantranga. We were just talking about it at work as one of the better earlier Barris cars. Do a search on Google Images for Matranga, I believe it will pop up in the first three pages. It's a side shot of the car in front of a high shool. Photo is probably from the Petersen museum. Sick thing is, the guy was in High School when he had the car done.

Nick Matranga was a kid in high school when he had this car built?!? Where did he get the bucks to hire the Barris Bros. even then?

Where do kids today get enough money to buy $3000 22" wheels for their '05 Escalades in H.S.?

Sometimes it's a good thing to have overindulgent parents... Mine weren't.
