View Full Version : "59 p/u"so close yet so so far"!
It's been a year now since i twisted the piston sideways in the cylinder on the last '59 known as , "strawberry". The pieceing together of the next truck began almost emmediatly cause i already had a foundation frame from the panel, and most of the underpinings ,including a doner firebird subframe and rearend ready to go. Because of cash-flow, and the inabilty to get in my garage comfortably, without climbing around excess parts,(anyone who's seen my garage knows regretabaly what i'm talking about). Any how , with all my empty excuses , and whining,(with cheese), the trucks nearly on the road,( way past its tenetive deadline). It runs, steers, stops, and all the electrical now work, got the stance right ,and now all i gotta do is tie up all the loose ends. (many)!, and take her to an inspection station because i built her from the ground up on a salvage title. I'v got a few little tricks left to do on her just to keep the individuality thing. She'll be my daily driver till my son gets his license anyway ,and by then i'll have the '53 210 scooting around on the road. Ok im not proud of the fact that i have the dirtiest , cluttered garage of anyone i know, but here you go , my only challenge on the HAMB. I want to see a pic of a dirtier garage than mine! Not that i'm proud of it, but im just a DISORGANIZED sum-fa-bitch. I'll take a pic tomorrow of it. Anyway, heres the most recent pics of the project. "hip"

OK, you cut your hair, now youre gonna clean the garage?? Youre taking the spring cleaning too far.. and too early. But if you want to donate any junk, just holler http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Will a backyard photo suffice for a garage scene? My garage is way cleaner than it was and its still an obstacle course..

Well well well, Heres my buddy HIP! Long time since I seen him on the HAMB. Yes, he procrastinates alot but he is very proud of the work he does. He constantly gives me headaches, mainly because we are so unalike when it comes to our technics at building cars and our house keeping (Odd Couple). Dispite all this, I wouldn't want him to ever change. Nicest guy in the world, and my Bro. Glad to see that the truck is nearing operating status, one year late! Oh, and yes his garage is going to be hard to beat. I was helping him start his truck and I literally had to start climbing over the truck itself to get in. Which reminds me of the sign I bought him at Pomona "No Dumping" LOL. Satin

Tinbender, Your definatly in the running but i just took pics of my garage as promised last night and now i'll unleash the "KRACKEN"! haha. My garage is scary isn't it "prime. "Be afraid, BE VARY AFRAID"!!! I just want to let you now something about my garage, and again, anyone who knows me can vouch for this....My garage ebes with the tides, daily. What i mean is that i'v seen peoples garages change from week to week , but mine changes shape daily! It's as if it has it's own moon. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Satin i truely believe that we are the "Odd couple", and thats why we get along so well even though i sometimes give you fits http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif. By the way, satin got me the bed you see on the back of Ians truck, just out of the goodness of his heart! Oops im sorry Troy , it didn't mean to blow your evil cover, and thanks for the vary cool words. You are my bro! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Munson, cool project truck and its my opinion that you build it just like hatch photocropped it for you. Thats awesome "hatch". I'll send you a pm Munson on the build up of the frame. So anyway , here come the pics. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Dude, thats not messy.. you can still see the floor!.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I also pulled the truck out of the garage to take these.
Actualy , this would be , "low tide" Ray, haha. Thanks Humboldt Cat, The '59 in the little introduction window is "Strawberry" The way she got her name was that she did work on, and was rescued from a strawberry field around Merced Ca.. She blew up and i traded her for a '38 ford p/u , which is now happely owned by "Hammerdebone". The newest one is "Dark Side". "Strawberry's" evil twin. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Neat background on the truck... used to live just north o' Merced, went to college in Turlock. These garage pics make me feel sane. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'll hafta dig up some pics of a friend's garage I borrowed for the first 1/2 of my project. Bob's not a car guy, but his garage is full of everything else. It was quite a squeeze for workspace (hell, just elbow room) in there.

I'd have to back Hip up here, that is low tide! LOL
Just to let you know what i go through every time i pull out the truck to work on it or in the garage. This was last night right before i shut the garage for the night. Who needs a gym when you've got my garage!!!
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Munson just to let you know, there ain't no way to get this much drop out off that straight axel! Do the sub swap , and i decided to do a pictorial tech on this swap in the next month or so when i do the 59 panel frame. The frame was done with a camaro clip already , but it was done all wrong! Luckely they left me enough frame to do the swap over with another sub and i'll take pics of every step. By the way , that shot is straight up sub to frame , No bags, airshocks, what you see is drivable with a little care. SLAMIT!!!

Nice work HIP...
I would love a tech on subframin'
See, I will be waiting on that since my budget is tight for the time being. I'm going to drop the leaf springs, drive it some, and then paint, and a V-8 for sure...
Then after all that and there is nomore little projects to do I'll buy me a clip and start hackin away.
Thanks for your help so far...

Yea, but at least desert is trying to do something about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the desert around here... these massive fenced off yards full of junk and cars and trucks... it would be so cool to have land to leave things laying around if you want. I really dig that one yard on 138 around Llano... man, what a yard...
