I'm setting up an emergency door latch release on my dodge in case the battery ever goes dead or I can't use my solenoids for some reason. My problem is that I need to cut the cable, but I can't do it without it unraveling. Any tips? I've heard to cover the area you're cutting with super glue and let it dry before cutting, but that's not working either.

Wrap it in duct tape and cut it with a grinder and a thin blade.

Wrap it tightly in electrical tape, and use a narrow cut-off wheel.

After you cut it, run like hell or you'll be stuck on the bridge when it falls. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At Home Depot we used a machine that woked like a bolt cutters. we'd wrap the end in electrical tape and cut through the middle.

a nice big wide sharp chisel ought to do it, too.

Zip tie on either side of the cut

A couple good karate chops should do just fine http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif just make sure you wrap it in tape..

depending on your application you can melt some solder over the area that you are going to cut so after you cut it with a cable cuter or cut off wheel the ends will alread nice and sealed and your remander will stay nice till the next time you use it.

Thanks guys, I followed Root's suggestion, since he was the first to post and I just came in from finishing the install. Now I'll never have to break a window to get in.
