Here are my usual 3 posts for the Friday Art extravaganza.
First is enamel on gloss black cardboard.
Second (enamel on comp paper) is something I am playing around with for a friend's 63 T Bird mild custom, it incorporates some of the design elements from the actual T Bird badge. The design is a bit busy for what I would put on this guy's custom, but he likes it.
The third is enamel on a VB ( Victoria Bitter beer ) bottle ,is a for my nephew as a gift he is giving to a friend!

Dunno how well this would qualify as "art"...but it's a concept "painting" I did to illustrate what I want my car to look like someday! Starting with a bland photo of a very nice, stock 49 Chevy, I chopped it and painted it to my liking...

Here are a couple of still shots from an animation I recently did. In the animation, the car's color starts out blue and transforms into the final red color.
Here in white is the geometry.

Denise, a Holga is a cheap-ass plastic camera (Russian?) that is full of light leaks and shoddy workmanship... but for some reason they take really cool photos. They've got a pretty big cult following. Kinda like hot rods, people cut them up and modify them and achieve some great results. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mike, That's akin to putting dubzzz on a Pinto..
I use Kodak Portra 400NC or 400VC (natural color or vivid color) color negative film.
I'm interested in seeing some pics from that punk shoot.
The cactus is sort of on topic, I was out in the desert waiting for a hemi deuce to show up so I could shoot it..
Here's one from last weekend.
http://home.socal.rr.com/rickamado/freng50merc03-sm.jpg
Denise, I think part of the Holga's appeal is that it's like a box of chocolates...
mikes51- your 3D stuff is astounding.

Hey Rick, how did you get the double exposure in the lower corner? Is that one of the light leaking Holga characteristics? I should email this thread to a friend. I'm pretty sure he plays with a Holga as well.
Bob Drake, your '35 is killer.
ShortBus
02-06-2004, 03:56 PM
That double exposure is one of the quirky qualities of my Holga. It shows up in most of the images from that camera. The shutter is a rotating disc with a hole cut in it. There's another plate that's supposed to cover the opening when the shutter rotates back to home. Apparently there's a bit of a gap.
The shutter mechanism is the only metal in the camera.. even the lens is plastic.

I have a plastic Russian twin lens reflex that does the same thing, but uses 2-1/4 film. Great for big enlargements. like this picture, but all the metal is plastic.

Thanks for posting that pic Dennis; first time I've seen it.We had a full house that day;my wife and I,the dog,my son and his fiance and her son.
This was the dog's second trip to the Ty-Rods show from Michigan and she loved every minute of it.We haven't had the heart to leave her home since she lost her best friend to bone cancer last year. This was him with my wife and Muttley(the little dog).Meet Duke von Slayer(my son named him not me),all 155 lbs.

We were at the Pumkin Run in Cincinnati and there was an old pit entrance sign I wanted to buy but they wanted WAY to much money for it so My wife decided to try to make a new "old" we got a few tips from our friends Dan and Josh Shaw
safariknut
02-07-2004, 12:15 PM
Seeing the pit entrance sign brought to mind a couple signs I did for a local business awhile back.
They wanted something a little different but were limited as to the size of their signs. These are 2 4'X4' pieces of 3/4" MDO. As the name was the Pit Stop I wanted to come up with something car related but still able to be seen from the road.
I decided to paint a tire track running across the sign dividing the copy.Well I don't know if anyone has ever tried to paint a tire track and make it look realistic but I can tell you right now,"IT AIN'T EASY!"
After a couple of bungled attempts,I came up with the perfect solution:Utilize you wife's Geo Tracker which has a nice aggressive tread pattern and spray paint the tire tread black, place the sign under the back of the tire and drive over it!On the 4' width of the sign if you spray around the tire as far as you can,it will just traverse the sign perfectly! The pattern isn't perfect but that's what makes it look authentic.
These signs are mounted back to back and stand out quite well even against a somewhat cluttered background.
That's another thing I found out about signs when determining what colors to use;the background has to contrast with the sign not blend into it.

Thanks for the info on what a Holga is guys. Appreicate learning about new stuff. I took alot of photos this weekend at different settings so I can try to evaluate them and determine which ones are better for different situations. (new camera) I have no formal training but I'd like to be able to take the best photos I possibly can with my skills and knowledge.
Here is a photo I took of a panel that Safariknut did. It was a gift from him last month and I have it proudly hanging in my car memorabilia room. I thought I might share it with you guys.
