AZ HAMBers - Swapmeet, engine pull, 4 band party - 2/7/04

The last two times I went to the swap meet it was
crap (anyone agree?) The time before that my
friend Butch had a pair of Magnesium 12 spokes
on a straight axle ripped off over night.

Anyway, I may go. Anyone else? Some are going
to the Brass Amidillo to check out antiques after
the swap.

I am going over to Hotrod Hef's (Ric's) to pull
my motor out of the 54 Dodge and wait for the
440 to show up from Tucson. I'm BBQing the
burgers too. Bring Chips, BYOB.

Then over to Kris's for the 4 band house party.

Gonna be a big day.

I will be at the swap this sat .Who know if i will find anything , but i gotta throw the dice .There is so much goin on this weekend .Huge drag race at speedworld / big boys runnin at firebird / swapmeet /and more .Can not see everything but the speedworld race this weekend is the most bang for the buck .

Mike the speedworld race is expecting a ton of cars everything from fox bodied mustangs to 60-70s cars mixed in w/ pro mods and vintage .Supposed to be a big deal . Fri,sat,sun...The other racing thing at firebird is the bigboys NHRA test n tune i guess .swap then speedworld ?

If you are going to speedworld, you might as well try your luck in Vegas while you're out that far!
Unfortunatley for me, Fireturd is practically across the street, so even though I NEVER go there, I can never talk myself into going to Speedworld- no matter how much better it is (unless it's vintage drags day).

DEYO , this guy that told me about the race said "if your not impressed , i will buy your ticket " .And he know s i like the vintage stuff too . Besides , dollar wise ,$$ will be better spent at speedworld and some gas VS firebird and the high dollar boys .Then again i will prob just blow all my bucks at the swapmeet and not go to either . I maybe wrong , but i think the phx swapmeet is also on at the dog track .

Firebird is great for the test and tune, nobody is there and you can walk right up next to the top fuel cars while they do their burnouts. I call it the 60 foot nationals because they do launches only friday and part of saturday testing clutches, by sunday I can hear them from my house making full passes.

Speedworld is running their "real street" class, another attempt to get "street" cars on the track and go fast, the car a friend is taking is putting out over 1000 hp and has totally lost the idea of "street", they continue to start these classes only to have them get totally out of control with trailered drag cars.

Both events will be good.
