Okay, folks...here it is! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Up for grabs here is a one-of-a-kind, custom built 1/25 scale plastic model depicting a very traditional, low-buck, home grown 1940 Ford coupe. Painted and weathered to replicate a true backyard rod, this car is finished in flat bright red with rust streaks and paint wear simulated along various body panels.
The engine is a grubby 350 Chevy two barrel motor with headers and a TH350 tranny. The stock flathead air cleaner was modified to fit the Rochester carb, with extra holes drilled in it for added breathing potential! Exhaust is expelled through open tubes to let ya know this beast is near!!!
The interior is mostly a dirty, worn tan, with a lightly patina'd dash and a set of 70s Mopar bucket seats. The stock column shift represents a rigged-up selector lever for the automatic tranny!!!
Rust is evident from nearly every angle on this authentic beater, from a light covering on the bumpers and chrome, to the chassis and exhaust system. I used my trademark technique to create the illusion of worn and oxidized metal on a plastic medium with very convincing results! I think you'll be impressed with it as well!

Some details I'd like to point out that I added as this model came together are scratch-built items such as the transmission dipstick, the engine oil dipstick, the fuel line and filter, the tiny overflow hose for the radiator, the remote oil filter (because of header clearance!), the open drive conversion, the crude, home-made looking mounts for the split front 'bones and rear trailing arms, and the classic shop rag stuffed into the filler for the gas tank on the driver's side rear fender! These are unique touches I made, detailed and installed to make this particular model stand out from the crowd! (I try to approach my model building as I would real car building, solving engine swap issues in much the same fashion!!).
The nose-high stance and custom drilled stock front axle give the car a tough appearance, along with the basic black rusty steel wheels that offset the new wide whites! In addition, there is a hood for this car, it's just off for the photo session!
I'll add some more photos in subsequent replies to this post, but let's move on to the specifics of this auction. I will include some in-construction pics to show you the interior and engine a little better, too.
This auction will run until Sunday, February 8 at 10pm EST. I am offering this item as a 70/30 auction...with 70% of the proceeds going directly to Ryan to help support the HAMB. I only ask for 30% to help cover materials, shipping and such. If I weren't so financially strapped at the moment, I would GLADLY donate 100% of the funds to Ryan. I wanted to do something to raise money for this board, so I spent two weeks of my time building what I feel is a special and fitting HAMB-type replica to offer up as a fund-raising means for our founder and our "clubhouse"!
I want to be sure that whoever wins this auction will receive their model in as pristine condition as possible...so I want to pack it extra carefully and add insurance to the parcel, then send it either Priority or Express Mail to assure fast delivery to a very deserving HAMBer! (Hence, the 70/30 split...I hope that reads as fair!)
Thanks for looking, Gang! I really am proud of this model, I put ALOT of time and effort into it, and I'm actually gonna miss it! Bid now and give this car a good home!!!!
