Anyone else feel this?
We busted ass.
We taxed every aspect of our lives to be there with a car to race.

And now that it is over... I've been in a lull...

At first I didn't know it... but then my buddy Tim came by last night and mentioned that after meeting on a regular basis... hanging out on weekends and at least one night a week... and then having it all climax... and THEN have it all dissappear... kinda left him in a daze!

Shazam!

Maybe that's why I've been kinda pissed off and not looking through my rose colored glasses... people around me have noticed it... I think some of you guys may have noticed it too... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyway, anyone else experience this after a big event of some kind that was car related??

Or do I need to just hit the bottle? (I can't afford to build another car http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Yours truly,
Sam.

[/ QUOTE ] Very common after such a big build up and climax.(no sexual jokes please)Once the stimulus is removed, the mind and body can't maintain that peak,so the mood swings in the opposite direction. How far it swings and how long to get back to "normal" can vary greatly. In extreme cases, some never recover completely. JimC and I have been e-mailing back and forth on this exact subject. It's funny how folks you have never met in person before can really mean so much to you. Right now it feels like it was just a dream. The weekend went by SO FAST. I tryed to make sure I met everyone, probley wasn't successful. I felt like I was being pulled in 20 different directions. Didn't get to race as many times as I really wanted to. Didn't get enough sleep. Spent hours slaving away in the kitchen, YET, I HAD AN AWESOME TIME with buds I had just met. (Had a great time with old buds too.)

I REALLY wanna do this again REAL soon. I don't know if I can wait till spring! I certainly can't wait a FULL year! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm in HAMB Drags withdrawl for sure!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Unk... this is exactly how I'm feelin'... anyway, I guess it explains a few things... like the need to get back to the garage and build ANOTHER one... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But I really regret the event only being a day long... and ending as early as it did... I really didn't get a chance to meet as many people as I wanted... but I did race a fair amount... hopefully we can do it again...

What I was also thinking, was it would be neat to do a demographic map of where everyone came from...
and next time... WE NEED NAME TAGS!!

I'm sure I'll snap out of it real soon... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've been in your state of mine for the two years since selling my Malibu to build my truck. Yeah I can take my buds rides down the track. Not the same. Well except for one of em. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif But that's not allowed here.

The '67 Camaro in the garage across the street is really harkening to me. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And yes drinking helps. Me anyway. Her to. See? You will just ramble on incessantly while having beers and surfing the HAMB.

howzabout figuring out a way to run that same car at bonneville? is there any reason you couldn't convert the digger to a dual-purpose car, that could easily switch rear gears and run equally good at either venue, just an idea-george p.s. you could also run at el mirage.

I feel it too. Busted ass on the little Rambler amid complaints from the little woman about "time management"---all to get 4 timeslips before RADIATOR DISASTER [TM] set in and I was done...turned away like a 3 legged cat [or something similar]. It would have been even worse if I'd had to bring the busted car home to find a place to store it. My neighbors were giving me darty looks as it was. One guy even gave me the stink-eye....
ok, now I'm better.................I think

honestly, since i didn't have a car there i have been in the complete opposite mood. seeing all of those cars and meeting all those people just lit a bigger fire. i have been working on my car as much as possible and haven't stopped thinking about cars in weeks. it was all inspiration for me at mokan.

Sam, I think the drive you had (and others as well) really put a drain on ya. When I moved here from the Bay Area, I drove straight through in a U-haul towing my Roadster. 31 hours. I was beat for weeks. I finished up my friends Roadster on friday before the drags, went to the drags saturday with it, spent sunday going over it, then I didn't want to see it leave. I drove it a little bit, and gave it to him on wednesday. I have great memories of the drags, and my friend has been driving the wheels off the roadster. That makes me happy. Now all I have to look forward to is Goodguys in Kansas on the 19th, 20th, and 21st. It's just not the same, might be 10 cars there I like. You have BILLETPROOF coming up, so maybe that will cheer you up http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Dean

I REALLY need to read all the posts before I reply -- but yeah, what Yorga said.

No need to build another car . . . just take the BFD and convert it for Bonneville use!

Get a rulebook.

Lower stance.

B'ville tires on all fours.

Fire system.

Buncha slick aluminum and Dzus buttons.

Hell, you probably have 3/4 of a salt car sittin' there right now!

You could have it all together for shakedown runs at Elmo in May.

Do it.

later,
Steve.

Rashy...we going to day of the drags???

Prettyman has been askin about the HAMB chop too. I told him I didn't think it was going to happen. Lazy Ass.

Here's an idea...we used to have nostalgia drags here in Tulsa twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall. Maybe we should look into doing something like this. I have a feeling the next HAMB drags will probably be twice the size of the last one. Especially if the weather is nice and cool.

See what ya think.

Awe. you guys are swell. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think I'll snap out of it soon... after we figure out what we're going to do for a motor (buy the Raffle motor or build another one) we'll be able to take it to the drags to get another fix...
I thought about the bonneville thing... but the car seems all wrong to go bonneville racing... the rear is mounted solid and we can't lower it any... someday I'll do another car for bonneville... but for now, we'll have a blast with this one...
Sam.

I wish you guys would come back as it is awful quiet here. I am running in a nostalgia race the first weekend of Oct. at MOKAN. I like the idea of a whole weekend event next time. Friday night test and tune and Sat./Sun. for the event. I am going to talk to the Carl, the track owner, and see what he thinks.

Been scheming on day of the drags.

Hate to say it will probably be in the POS Blazer.

On the HAMBchop, I will most likely be gone and don't know if you've seen the HAMBchop post yet, but I backed us out.

Let someone more prepared have at it.

Hell, if I am here, we should try to make it.

Will give us a better idea of all the peripherals involved.

Maybe do Prettyman's in the spring.

If we have jobs.

If we fly down will you pick us up at the airport? Time is going to be a major factor.

Root,
Been staying busy with both jobs. Working my monkey ass off man. How's Mr. Dragon? Get the front tires lined out? I drove a blown T-bucket last weekend. 671. Holy Shit....Monkey Likey!!!!!

Rashy,
Let me know. I will check into flights if need be. I caught the post on the chop. Probably better anyway. We need to get the kid motivated. Let me know if you are still having problems with the Blaze tonight. I have one huge lawn to mow and then I should be done. I could swing by in need.

Yep,... worked on my pile for 4-1/5 years solid and especially heavy for the final 6 months trying to make Paso Robles - just barely got it there.

Since then, I got no energy at all - total worthless lump (and a bit grumpy too). Only working on fine tuning the mechanicals, keeping it running - but no major projects on it. Guess you can say I shot my wad and I'm still recovering.

Just realized Billetproof is 2 weeks away, and all the stuff I thought I woulda had done by then isn't even started. But it's still good enough to go as-is.

I usually get bored during winter with the short daylight, so I'm sure I'll get on it. ??

I could always work over another picture of the digger for you, I have a few more. But that just might make ya want to curl up and cry.

The next drag is just around the corner! A couple of holidays and maybe some snow and VOILA! Time to race again!

Who knows maybe next year you all can camp at my father-in-laws farm. Its in Carthage, right outside of Joplin. There are even trees! Alot more than that one at the track.

KC Sledz...........does your uncle in Carthage have a shower? How 'bout a water truck? A lake? Anyplace we could shower?
Maybe we could do like Frisky Kitten and all go to Eyeball's motel room to shower?
I really like the camping idea. It could be a big ol' HAMB party like we have camping at BTT-50's. The only thing is...........we need a place to clean up after a 105 degree day. Knowattamean, Vern?

Theres a stream and a spring on his property. The plumbing in the house flows pretty slow! Really slow.!. The house is really old! The hoses run alright though. My mother in law grew up in the house and my father in law lived about 5 miles away.
