Well, I talked with the main guy out there about the show last night and it's now official. Billetproof Detroit is a go! It's not exactly in Detroit but we didn't want anyone to die. So it's going to be in Davisburg at the Springfield Oaks 4H Fairgrounds on June 6th. I'll be working on the flyer this week. So if you want to be on the mailing list be sure you send me your info.

So far we have:

-Pre '65 Billetproof cars, trucks and motorcycles (details on the website)

-Swapmeet

-Vendors

-Burnout Contest

-Model Contest

-Panel Jam (hosted by HAMBers)

-Raffle

-Custom Made trophies

-$5 walk in

-$20 pre-register ($25 after May 31st)

All the details will be on the flyer. I'll update you guys when more info comes along.

Isn't that a conflict of interest? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif........Is this the first show you are doing in the midwest?

KIRK!

No, what I need is a fucking psychiatrist. I'm not doing too much of the work out there. A guy named Boomer and the Detroit Poor Boys are doing most of the work. It's pretty much their gig.

If there is anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask.

If you can get me flyers, or at least all the perticulars by Wed Feb 26th, I'll get all the info to the powers that be at the Detroit Autorama. All the heads of all the cars clubs in Michigan get together in a meeting room at Cobo Hall on that Sat of the Autorama and go thru all the "local" shows and make a huge list that is printed by I believe by the Bearing Burners, members of the Michigan Hot Rod Assoc, and is distributed throughout the state.

Also, I'm willing to pass out flyers to folks at all the local cruz nites on the westside of town here. I believe most of the Poor Boys are on the east and north sides of town. I can also get flyers to the Flint, Midland, Charlotte and Grand Rapids areas via the Gay Michigan Bitches. You need to plan on this being a huge show even though it will be the first annual for Michigan. The state is ready for a strickly traditional hot rod and custom show.

Is the date still Sunday, June 6th?

It all depends on how this experiment goes. I am relying a ton on these guys to pull it off. I'm used to knowing every detail. If this works out then I'll be able to determine if other locations are going to happen. It would be killer to pull off more.

If you ever decide to get to the East Coast give me a jingle.I know the guy who puts on the various car and bike shows in Worcester, MA quite well.

The city and the cops are the most laid back Ive ever seen, 1000% support. They even block off the downtown streets for night time burnouts and FUN!
Daytime events, vendors, family stuff, etc, are in a city park along with another burnout area.

Did they even do burnouts pre '65 ?

Hey Kirk, I'm kicking the idea around of throwing a Billetproof down here in New Mexico. I'm kind of centrally located to Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and not to be forgotten..Oklahoma....did you ever get the e-mail I sent ya'?......Neal

Hot Rod To Hell

So does ANYONE have the rules for these shows???

KIRK!
02-01-2004, 07:35 PM
Here are the basics:

-Pre '65 cars, trucks and motorcycles ONLY.
-No Billet-clad, digital gauge, pastel graphic, named after a fifties song, trailer queen fluff-mobiles (If you think this means you then it probably does).
-No billet wheels or major accessories. Billet speed parts are fine. Mags are fine, just not billet.

The show is about traditional styled rods and customs inspired by those built through the mid sixties. Cars don't have to be primered but primer and suede are the stars of the show. Rust is your friend.

DRIVE IT!

Actually the drive from northern Ohio and Indiana isn't that far to the KOA Double Date show in Florence Ky. Which is basicly southern Cincinnati. Which explains why we always have cars from that area. This year will be the 10th annual show and it seems strange that people still don't know about it. This being the 10th year we have been planning for some special things to honor the history of our hobby. Ask Dan Kahn, before his decision to leave R&C, we were asking him to come and spend the weekend with us.
