Tab A is my tube axle, slot B is my 64 econoline spindle that is fresh back from the machine shop with new kingpins ,bushings and bearings......Problem is that the axle is too big to fit in the spindles with the bearings........so what do I have machined the spindles or the axle......thanks in advanvance guys......

I'd say the spindles because they have more metal on them to work with. But I could be wrong. I wouldn't want to take any more material off of the axle.

Take "A" and "B" to the machine shop with "C". Don't forget the checkbook.........OLDBEET

<font color="red">LUKESTER, I have access to a big F'n sander but am afraid of how to sand it completely flat so am inclined to take it back to the machine shop with my $$$ (again).....it is times like this when I remember I know very little about these car thingy's....I may be ignorant but I ain't dumb....I take each mistake or miscalculation as a learning experience!.......thanks guys I was thinking axle should go down to fit in myself ,but that is why I ask questions

Are you sure the kingpin diameter is the same for the spindles and axle ?
How much too big is the axle ?
And while your measuring, since these spindles were never on this axle,
make sure the kingpin inclination is correct.
If necessary, the axle boss could be shortened without any loss in strength.

I use one of these to expand tight slots.

JOE.... You're not right.....
Anyways, grab a square and grind it down, just make sure its square with the square, you want it a bit loose so you can shim it anyways... don't be scared its just a car........ LUKESTER

<font color="red">can't you get bushings for the axle?
Axle is 3/32 too big..
Inclination looks good by the old eyeball..

Sounds as if you could just file down the axle.

LUKESTER's got it, just feather a little off of all four surfaces with a disk. Keep it square, as best you can and you're golden. You're not flyin' it to the moon.
Keep test fitting as you go.

there are 3 popular spindle arrangments econoline, 50s chevy, and early ford, recheck measurements, i think speedway catolog has them, careful what you make fit, i went through a bbig hassle making 53-56 f-100 spindles fit on a pass axle to find out the camber was now off,...big waste of time...
