Virus...just looking out for you

I read on Yahoo News yesterday that there was a new virus out there that poses in your inbox as a message that you sent but didn't go through.
I fully expected to have a warning in my Yahoo MAIL page, but they haven't put one up yet.
I had 7 different attachment emails this morning, one was a notice of being outbid from Ebay, and I haven't bid on anything in months.
Everyone knows, NEVER open anything with an attachment that looks suspicious, but I'm just letting you know to be extra careful this week.

i think i got a few of those emails last night on my hotmail? one was about playing a game and i forgot what the other one was i just block the adrress then delete them! thanks for the warning. nate

We got the same message here at work this AM.

It's a pretty serious one, cause it'll attach to your address book to spread itself.

My internet provider filtered out one of those MyDoom virus messages yesterday.
I have the internet provider scanning my mail, then when I download it Trend Micro software scans it again before I open anything. Worked so far.

I too have received emails that were car related but didn't recognize the sender. Br careful!! Alot of them have a subject line called ( test )

4t64rd, you may want to put the "Don't do this" warning on the top of your post.

I got that one about 5 months ago from a friend who hadn't emailed me in a long time. It didn't add up, she was telling me that she sent me a virus, but I hadn't received anything from her.
I followed the steps and found the bear, but it just didn't seem right. I typed whatever file name it said (jdbg....exe) into a search engine and it came up as a hoax. The guy gets people to delete a legit file by making them think it is a virus.
As much of a dick move as that hoax is, I have to appreciate the genius of it. Here's a guy that doesn't know enough about computers to write his own virus, so he plays everyone's fears against them.

In my case, I warned everyone the message was sent to that it was only a hoax and NOT to delete the file. Unfortunately, one of the morons on the list actually blamed this hoax for some unrelated computer crash that he'd experienced, and told everyone that I was wrong and that they were all taking a serious risk if they didn't delete the file, so I'm sure others followed his lead.

Go here and read the notes. There is one that starts, "If you have aleady deleted the jdb.... file, in most cases you don't need to reinstall it...

I just opened my email and had no less than 36 dodgy emails, all with a virus attached. most were "test" or "hi" or bogus email non-deliverables. that's 36 in a couple of hours. Think of that times all the people using the internet, and pretty soon the whole system will grind to a halt.
