Howdy, I’m a new guy from Seattle,
I just found the H.A.M.B. forum.
My every day driver is a 65 Chevy truck (LWB) I’ve had for years, and I’ve done all the work on it since I got it,
I realize this site is about PRE 65, but hell, the 64 Chevy C10 is almost identicle to the 65, and the 66 for that matter.
I also have a 65 GMC SWB, a 1930 Ford Coupe, and a bunch of motorcycles.
Here’s a photo of my 1930 Ford Coupe, project rig, on the day I got it, (as it was when I bought it).
I’m still in the process of planning out how I want it configured.
I’m deeply into the hunting-gathering stage, finding and obtaining parts, info and ideas
I’m getting rid of the tubbed rear, the too narrow 9 inch rear end, and the too wide rear tires,
I haven’t decide yet whether I’ll modify and use the 2” X 4” frame or replace it with a pinched 32 type,
It has no diagonal bracing,
and the rear end was badly installed by some differently abled person in the cars past,
I plan to use a forged dropped I-beam front axle,
I don’t know if the one I have is repairable or not it looks like it’s bent a couple different ways,
It has a split wishbone, they also look slightly bent (up from the underside),
I haven’t decided between using split wishbone, hairpins, or 4-link yet,
I have yet to determine the ideal rear end width,
I haven’t decided what engine I’m going to use yet,
I have a 350 Chevy, and automatic that came with the car,
But I want to use a manual trans,
I have a pretty hot 283 that needs a rebuild,
And I have a 327 that’s in good shape available,
But I have been contemplating using a 500 Caddy motor, but it would be quite a bit more expensive by the time I get it set up for a manual trans.
Since I got the car I have been kinda sidetracked, on remodeling the garage a bit, making it bigger.
I was making it longer and had no door on it, One day I came out to find a (housing challenged) guy sleeping in my car! I convinced him that there were better places for him to be.
