I have been working on and building cars most of my life and retired a few months ago. We have several Model A's, 47 Chev and a 36 Chev Pickup.

I also belong to several metalshaping groups.

Welcome !! hope you enjoy it, it can be a hard place for new comers sometimes but you should fit in, its the wanna bees that get a hard time here.
What model 47 chevy do you have ? I have a 48 sedan delivery I'll be starting on after the 2 infront of it get back on the road.

It is a 47 Chev Fleetmaster 4 door. I bought a 41 Chev 2 door sedan that I'm going to use the quarters off of, and put them on the 47, to make it into a 2 door sedan. The major problem (if you could call it that) is that the 2 door sedan doors, are different in the post area, but I'll work around that.

I've had this car for about twenty years and it used to be a daily driver. It was running a 235 (which is mildly hopped), a saginaw 4-speed, a 55 chev rear-end and has a Mustang II IFS. The motor dropped a valve several years ago and just picked up another 235 motor several weeks ago, that is a runner.

Hopefully, it will be back on the road in a month or two.

I have a friend that has a 47 Chev Sedan Delivery too.

That sounds like you have had fun in the 47 for years, mstgII is the only way to go on those cars my roomates 46 s/d has it but my 48 s/d was nova subframed somewhere in the past so I guess I well live with it.
Doesnt the 2dr also have longer doors? as well as angled rear posts? a freind put those doors on his 47 s/d and looks pretty cool.

Edsel,

I think that the 2 door sedan doors, are straight up and down not slanted. The coupe and maybe the fastback (Fleetline?) had a longer door and probably had slanted upper door posts. The sedan delivery had a small door, I think that is the same as the 4 door fronts.

Rolf,

I have several Model A project cars, the one that I wanted to do after retirement was one with a hot four banger. For the last 10-12 years I've been collecting parts and Model A speed equipment.

We have a long story here, but I won't bore you with details, after retiring I realized I wouldn't be able to get anything together or even work on anything for a least another year. Last June I bought a couple of Model A's from a guy in California. Both of them have B motors (with Cragar OHV heads on them), 32 trans' and 40 Ford rear-ends (with Columbia's). I shot part of my retirement to get them.

I have a 29 business coupe body that is going through modifications to be a roadster. I have a roadster cowl and will probably make new doors. All of the speed quipment and parts that have been collected will probably go into this. Hopefully I'll be able to get going on this stuff soon.

What are you doing to your Model A?

What are you doing to your Model A?

I am building a nailhead powered 1931 coupe on '32 rails. Hope to have a driver this spring.

You can see the whole misery here if you like:

Love the four banger though, post some pix if you can. Lot's of guys on this board are in to 'em.

All the best,

No, I'm not thinking about getting rid of anything. I looked at your website, you have some good info there.

The guy that I bought the A's from has a 28 roadster with a Donovan four banger with a DOHC head on it. I am sure that it isn't for sale either. Here is a picture of the motor.

Rolf,

Thanks, I'll get some pictures of the pickup posted later. The coupe is a fun driver, the pickup is fast!! When I saw these cars, my first thoughts were, the pickup is really cool. When my wife saw the coupe, I realized that it would be in my best interests, to buy it too.

BTW, I live in the Renton area, the other end of Lake Washington.

Welcome from up north. Watch out. There are guys around here who think if it's hanging on your wall or is extra at the moment that you should be able to part with it. Now that's funny. I personally want everything but if I had it I would have to leave it where it is. No more room around here. dug

Hey, I just found this board and I'm from Washington too! By coincedence I am building a similar car, a '48 Fleetline Aerosedan. I have a RB Obsolete Mustang II crossmember, and a '69 4-bolt 350/350. Pretty basic stuff, but this is my first rod, not to mention my first ground-up car. Having a great time! It's nice to find others nearby with similar cars/interests.
