Hello every body, and a Merry Xmas to all!!
My name is Johnny and I have been living here in San Jose, Ca. for the last 5 years, and I run a bike shop here, wich I opened about 2 years ago. The shop's name is Kool Cat Kustoms and I work on american made bikes, a lot of older ones,Panheads, Shovelheads,Ironheads and so on. Originaly I am from Fredericksburg, Virginia, but since I am a Military Brat, I spent a long time living in Berlin, Germany. There I went to school to learn how to wrench on engines, after that I started working over there for a small chopper shop, later worked for a German Harley Davidson Racing team for several years, and built some pretty fast bikes over there. In my spare time I also wrenched on a few hotrods and customs, even though I never owned one my self (I allways spent all my cash on Harleys), and Rods are not as affordable over there as they are here.
Well to make it short and not put every body to sleep out there, I am finally building a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup for my self. With some good advice from a few friends, such as Alex Gambino from "Gambino Customs" who's shop is right next door to mine, I finished the frame a few weeks ago, and I finished the engine today! It's a 500cid Caddy engine wich has been rebuilt with a balanced crank, custom sized bearing journals (michigan 77 bearings) Venolia 10:1 pistons, crane cam, slightly ported heads, edelbrock intake, high flow waterpump and oilpump and every thing else has been replaced, except for block and oilpan. Yeah I know a lot of motor for a Model A but I can't help my self, in my book engines have to be big. It's going to be bolted to a TH400 tranny wich a friend built for me. ( again, thanx to alex gambino for the hook up with his tranny guy). A GM 10 bolt is going out back. A 4.5 inch dropped I beam axle out front and wide Firestone whitewalls from coker all around. I will not be running the truck bed and the body will be set back 4 inches and chanelled 4 inches, triying to achieve the look of a modified. I wish I had one of those digital cameras then I could put up some pic's and I wouldn't have right so much.
Other than that I own a 1957 Harley Davidson Panhead wich is stripped of every thing it dosen't need. Again I couldn't resist and had to bore and stroke the engine to 93cid. Some of you might have seen it at lokal California shows, like Billetproof, Paso Robles in May this year or at other smaller shows, it will also be in the S.F. Rod and Custom show in Jan.
Well I hope to see a lot of you there in january.
See ya later.
