Designed this heap for a lurker pal that asked me for a favor.

The concept began as a conversation about the possibility of making a shortened 'bucket' body out of a 32 sedan...sorta like an RPU or Modified deal, but using a Deuce.

Fortunately, I was given lots of freedom on this design, and I drew upon Tom's Tub II and an old show rod called "Crazy Horse" for inspiration to come up with what you see here.

Though I drew it channeled, in subsequent conversations, we thought it might look better as a true hi-boy over Deuce rails bobbed ands stepped in the rear to pull off that 'Modified' vibe.

It was also considered that using the new 28/29 RPU-Modified body from Last Refuge minus the bed would be an interesting and lower cost alternative to cutting up a 32 sedan body.

The only parameters I was asked to adhere to for the design was to run a blown early Hemi, make it a killer machine, and give it a solid 60s feel. That may be like asking Barry Manilow to cover Beatles tunes...and I sure as hell ain't no artist...but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the drawing was liked and appreciated by the guy who commissioned it, so that works for me.

Here is a slightly customed 55 chevy from Mitch S. He is part of the www.elrodshotrods.com (http://www.elrodshotrods.com) car builders club. All the added parts are stock from period cars of the time, notice the use of buick trim. Mitch grew up in a junkyard. Sorry about the poor pic. Joe

Another great Friday Art Show in progress. What I really love about the art show is the variety of talent and artwork displayed. As it is with music, variety is DEFINITELY the spice of life. Thanks to all of you who take the time to share your work with others;it is appreciated here.

I have been doing mostly production work this month(it helps pay the bills but usually isn't much fun),but this one piece I did yesterday was fun.The basis for it is a huge advertising piece for Von Dutch energy drink that a friend of mine(and very talented airbrush artist)got at his regular job(he's a butcher at a local market).

It's been sitting around the shop for a few weeks so I decided to have a go at it the other night.Still isn't finished yet and it's probably going to the panel jam in Detroit in March.

I also did a dashboard for a friend of mine's T roadster.BTW thanks to all who sent my family Christmas cards;especially you Jeff. That one is going on the shop wall with my business card collection.

WOW, there is some cool stuff here this weekend. I almost missed it! Sure glad it carries over past Friday.

Last night I was doing important stuff. I was DD for my son's batchler party. He's getting married in 2 weeks. We did good, he drank 12 beers, shot-gunned 5 more, and they were buying him a lot of different shots of lots of stuff. He took it all like a man, I'm so proud of him, :D was esspecially nice when he spent the last 1/2 hour in the can at the bar.... Only took 3 of us to "help" him into his house. I even got all the rest of the crew home safely, it was an entertaining night. My son was at our house with his future wife at 9am this morning, wasn't looking too good, and didn't eat any breakfast, but by 1 pm he was doing a lot better.:) He swears he's never drinking again, yea, right.

Any way, back to the Art Show, I did mannage to get one more Desk Top Art Work done. This one is an ordered Art Work for a HAMBer.

Merry Christmas every one.

The coupe looks killer. I like it.

I remember my B party too. Sounds about the same. They lost count after 13 shots of this that and everything else. I think I said the same thing the next morning too. I kinda quit the heavy drinking after the divorce. HE HE I hope his marriage goes better.:)
