That's right, for the first time ever, there is going to be a model contest at BILLETPROOF! It is being put on by the HAMB's own StevesGalaxie. Below is the flyer and info. For more info about the show itself go to the website. The $5 admission is not for the model contest but is the walk-in price for Billetproof. CHECK IT OUT!

I dunno bro, looks pretty cheezy to do a "BilletProof" contest and show BILLET for everybody to see just what's acceptable... You gonna let fullsize cars lookin like that in? Whatever, nice idea...

Kirk, Thanks for posting the flyer...
Purple, Get to work and bring your stuff to the show...
You'se other guys, I'll photoshop some steel wheels on the "Billetmobile" and it'll be 60's style! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif whatever, I think its a cool custom regardless of wheels.

Hey Rooster you're right. The flyer Steve made is just the beginning. We are trying to get ONLY cars with billet this year for the whole show. Models and real cars.
Jesus, give the guy a fucking break.

Thanks for posting the flyer! Just ignore the Billet mobile... That Model A pickemup is really nice! It would have been a little nicer if it had more of a traditional intake system... i.e. 3 dueces. But hey, nice anyway! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hey, I'm not knocking the model. No matter them genre, I can see all the work that goes into it. I'd want a whole table to myself for that show, maybe next year.

Dustin, the $5 is for spectators coming into Billetproof not the model contest. I don't think he's charging a fee for the model contest.
Kirk, is there going to be a $5 charge for the passengers in our car?

Jim, nope. Your vehicle registration gets in one vehicle, one driver and one passenger. Oh, and it gets you your goodie bag with a poster, patch, sticker, button and vendor info.

Nope, no charge for the model car show... That $5 is the Billetproof entry fee...
Are the models going to be billet proof too?
There are model car goldchainers with hunderds of dollars worth of Billet droppings superglued to their models.
Which is not traditional...styrene is trad. Billet is bad.
Will you have a pro-billet class, and a regular gluebomber class?
This is serious stuff for a car show. Some model guys get irate.

Kirk, Granted the flyer is nicely done. No knockin that.
I remain confused why BilletPROOF would show a billet laden model car on a flyer when as was pointed out there are some "Serious" scale builders who may take advantage of such a thing thereby outclassing those who might do a Traditional styled model for FUN and Prizes!
I acknowledge that I may do better to leaving others poke fun of the obvious lest any other toughguys call me gimp and hurt my feelings while so eloquently pointing out that the whole thing doesn't matter to me anyhow.
Have a Nice day http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif smooches to all...

I honestly have no idea how model contests are run. I haven't entered one in like 10 years.

Fuck it, just do it like your show. Kick 'em out if they don't fit and enjoy the rest. So now that my real car isn't gonna make it, I'm gonna have to carry a box in while rollin my Schwinn? I think I'm reverting back to my teen years. Bikes and models. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Also, keep in mind that the flyer Steve made is not a widely distributed piece of promotion material. It is just posted here to get some modelers interested. If people are really that offended by it they might need to consider a new hobby. Maybe needlepoint. If you don't like the flyer, don't enter the contest.

Would these be okay if they were billet needles or just old-school steel? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Nobody is REALLY offended here...are they?
I think the model contest is a good idea...just keep the judging loose.

Only if the needles have the right patina. And the thread is NOS.

I don't think anyone is offended at all. If they were that would be pretty sad.
Now if you start dissing hard core old school needlepoint.....I'm gonna be pissed.
Heck with all that, I knit.

I'm planning on keeping the entries in line with Billetproof standards. Also, this won't be concourse level judging. C'mon, I don't have that much time in my life! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif judging is gonna be some quality, some gotcha factor and some other undefinable characteristics, but I'll know it when I see it!
Hemi: you gonna be there? Are you still doing CKDeluxe? Heres a good chance to pick up material for a CKD model column.
I may be there...not with CKD anymore. Stepped down a while back.
