View Full Version : 39 colume switch replacement

Anyone know how to do it?The key and tumbler are wore out and I've ordered new ones .Is there much to it?

On the back side is a hole, my 37 had a pin in it that stake's the cylinder in place. Drilled it out, destroing the cylinder that was junk anyway. If I remember right, the key had to be in the lock to put it in or out and turned a certian way. Shoild be easy if enough room is there to get a drill in straight. Someone must have a pic of the drop disassembled, if not I could take some.

I really can't remember for sure. There is either a small bolt in the rear or a spring loaded pin to push. Key will have to be in on position and pull. If its a pin you will have to hold the pin in while pulling.

Do it like rodrelic says, but try to drill on center of the pin and go slow--you only need to drill about 1/4" or so through soft steel, when you see brass shavings you have reached the cylinder. It just slides out once pin is killed--no tricks with key. Key code will be on side of old cylinder, likely a new key will makeitworkok. Replace pin with set screw covered with a dab of putty or heavy paint.
