OK, so I found a great set of headlights (thanks, Slazzen--your name will be listed on the car) for the GARAGE magazine hot rod, but I need some advice on making them useful.

These things are what we used to call "deer cookers"--big ol' things that maybe Slazzen can tell me what they're offa.

I'd like to fit these things with new, bright lights while still keeping the original look. Has anyone done this before? Maybe with halogen bulbs or something? I plan to drive this thing to shows all over the country and I want the headlights to actually light up the road in front of me for those long drives after dark, instead of just being there to pass safety checks.

What am I in for with these?

Speedway has a kit for $29.95 to put halogen bulbs in old headlights. Here's a part number 91121001

Thanks, ladies. I'll check it out.

One more thing: Any tips on repairing those buckets? I think they're made out of tin--or is it some other metal? These have a few tears and dents in 'em and I don't want to ass 'em up.
