I thought you went by Toby Juarez? I still have a video of your old roadster ripping it up behind a motel in Paso, I still owe you a copy. What's the deal with getting an interior done by you? Are you taking new jobs on or are you booked until 2010 like anyone else in this town with a little bit of talent? Nice to see some more of the SD guys come out of the woodwork. Later,,, G

Isnt it! Its not quite done. We still plan to upholster the dash on the Rivie. Half painted half tuck and rolled. The owner runs a company called Syndicate here in SD he still has a lot of work to do to it.

Actually...one of my buddies is a writer in his spare time. He has written a novel and short stories. He recently contacted on of the major publications and inquired about writing some stories. The editor said lets see what you can do..so he plans on writing a few tech articles and sending them in, anyway he contacted me about some sort of upholstery tech....what should we do?? We want to keep it simple so anyone can do it. What topic about upholstery do you think regular guys need to know?

Youre right! I really wish there was a book full of photos of different interior styles, im still pretty new to the trade and it is really difficult comming up with new stuff without everything looking the same. As far as Tech goes I should probably start a thread asking what tasks people need the most and see if we can get some of the other interior guys to chime in. After all....this web site is for people that build their own cars.

As an artist, I always wanted to ask (and should ask Fat Lucky since he's right down the street now) how you guys come up with your designs? I'd like to see some Art Deco interior stuff in some 30's/40's kustoms but haven't really dug that deep. Thanks for joining us!

Yeah, Id like to know how Fat Lucky comes up with his designs also. I guess it mostly comes with learning what will work with different applications over time. I dont have any artistic talent at all so its really difficult for me. The trade itself was so difficult to persue because of the lack of trimmers and information available. You want to build a chasis? You want to learn customizing tricks? Painting tricks? Suspension tricks? Bodyworking tricks? You could find hundreds of books and articles in the magazines and on the web, you can go to barnes and nobel and get a book about every topic. Of course you have to learn to execute the skills correctly but its a starting point. Every issue of every car magazine has a how to article on those topics. I see about 3 articles a year about upholstery, and hardly any of them include sewing. So where can you go to get upholstery info or tips? There's maybee 3 decent books on the market. Do a search on the internet or go to the bookstore...well thats great but I really dont care about couches or throw pillows. I wish there were more resources for everyone not just upholstery guys...but guys that are building cars so they have more education about what is available and how to prepare and build a car so it can be trimmed correctly....jesus, i didnt mean to go that far
