there should be a tag under the coil hold down bolt, you can gain more info off that.

there is also a serial number above the starter, again, more info from that.

check out this page, it is one of the best engine websites that I know of. espescially for Fords ford engine workshop (http://www.wrljet.com/engines/)

You've got a regular '70 429. CJ heads have casting no. DOOE-R. The '70 is one of the good "regular" 429s though. Good heads, not smogged up, and good chambers. The deck height is a little lower on the block for good compression, too. It's a keeper.

Damn, You got a real GOOD one there, should be a 365hp 485 ftlbs torque. Only 5 less hp than a CJ,and high nickle block, and some of the best stock heads going. I had the same motor in a 52 F-1 and that bastard ran 13 flat in the quarter at 103 mph. Should make that 58 go like hell...Im puting a 69 460 in a 51 stude.

HIGG, good score, that engine will be better suted for your car than a CJ, better low end but it's going to want premium fuel, you are looking at around a eleven to one compression ratio.
