Beware Warning !

I had done some work on my trunks motor in August and just got it finished in time to take it on an 1125 mile journey. So Saturday afternoon I though I would clean the motor and wheels so I sprayed some <font color="purple"> Castor Super Degreaser </font> on the wheels and motor and then though what the heck I would spray a little on the front finders and grill.

<font color="red"> That was a bad move! </font>

The front fenders and grill are DP 60 epoxy primer/sealer and everywhere that the Castor Super Degreaser (in the purple spray bottle) touched it bleached out to a blue/gray. Now I have runs and spots of blue gray everywhere on my blue fenders.

I call the truck Monkey Butt Ugly because while I am working on it , and driving it is a mix of blue,crappy red and gray primer. NOW it is even UGLIER it looks like a flock of birds had the runs all over the front end.

Another product that runs havic on primer is sunscreen. The primer on the top of both of my doors is soft and mushy and has been rubbing off. Oh well, just adds character, right? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had the same type of problem with our car just before a car show. My son gave me some Simple Green to clean up my engine compartment. It worked great on the grease, dirt and paint but spotted up the DP primer painted surfaces under the hood. Just another one of my STEEP learning curves.

From the Castol Super Clean label:

"Avoid all contact with the exterior surfaces of vehicles, motorcycles, wheels and glass. Avoid prolonged contact with aluminum and paint. Always pre-test the integrity of any surface to be cleaned in an inconspicuous area."

It does work good for degreasing before painting, like shop equipment, engines, etc. It even etches the paint to knock off the gloss.

I was wondering why the paint on top of the door was mushy and soft after B'ville.

Yep, I got the sunscreen zinc oxide haze in the leather on the tops of my door trim panels.
