I've been waiting on my subscription every issue since April 2003. Nothing has ever come. I've called a few times and wrote a few emails. I always get excuses. I ordered it because it would save me a trip across town to find it. It finally showed up Monday, after I already bought the issue 2 weeks ago. Well, when it runs out again, I'll gladly waste the gas, time, and money to drive across town to find it, just so I don't have to deal with excuses.
Don't most magazines send out their subs BEFORE they hit newsstands?

I subscribed, and got three issues instead of 4. When I email, they had no record of me subscribing, but said if I reup, they'd send the 4th issue (#6). I said send me the #6 and I'll reup. Needless to say it never came.

Finally got mine after like 4 emails.

I have to tell you, this is a little ridiculous.

1. They can't deliver the thing on time, no matter what.
2. The editing of that magazine is the worst I have ever seen. I know they are trying to keep it "core" but good God! They make themselves look like ignorant fools.

Heck, I even offered to proof their articles for free. You think I even got a response back? Heck no.

They really need to get their stuff together if they ever plan to be taken seriously and make some money.

All that said, I like the content and the "look" of the magazine. They better watch out though. GARAGE is taking all the suggestions we have made and adapting to their customer's needs. With a little more rod & kustom specific content GARAGE is going to put them out of business. Just a far better mag. when it comes to level of finish.

I enjoy CKD for what it is, but it is the worst magazine ever to grace my bathroom floor. Spelling errors on nearly every page, grammatical errors, 2 month delays in delivery, unprofessional service, no proper way to subscribe via credit card. In short, the company is run pretty poorly, but the content rocks. CKDeluxe get your shit together please. Posts like this happen nearly every time an issue is due. And don't tell me to start my own Mag. I'm paying for one, not interested in starting one.

Heck guys in Austrailia get theirs before I do and its ALOT farther away than Indiana. I've sent three emails and no responce. Well, I got a response from Zombie at CKD today. I think I hit a nerve. He never adressed the issue of late or nonexistent magazines but he did call me names & use language that I can't (won't) use on this board. He also refered to the HAMB as a " little chat board" after I mentioned in an email to the CKD staff that there was a thread here about late/missing issues.

CKD devised a schedule when they stated on their web page that all subscriptions had been shipped. That's when I started wondering why I didn't get mine.

I saw the Email that gregg got from CKD. I was pretty bad. Very unprofessional. If I treated customers that way I would expect to be in business very long.

It was also a bad idea to bad mouth all of us on the HAMB since he is a member here too.

I was looking for a few new mags to advertise in and I must say that CKD is off my list. The mag I'm in now is expensive, but I know it will be out when they say it will and treat me and the readers with respect.

I also have had problems with CKD...I got a subscription for my birthday in MARCH of 2003, and never got one issue, although the subscription was paid in full! When the girl that got me the subscription called them,they gave a lot of excuses etc. When, 3 months later she asked If I had gotten any issues yet, she called back again, and they pretty much told her tough shit. Seems like a shitty way to run a business. I have not bought the last few issues because of this.

okie doke, i hate posting on these, but i will address just a couple of things. first of all, yes!!!!!! we are having and have had in the past a problem with some of the subscriptions. we have tried about 5 different shipping methods over the past 2 years, trying to get this straightened out. we have a new option that we hope will fix it up. i posted it on the site, so that people would know that we are aware of the situation and that we are doing something about it.

2nd, hot rod josh, i never talked shit about this message board. i have been on here for a few years now, and i have met some cool people here, but the whole time i've been here, there has always been a group of dumb ass' that would rather stir up some shit talk'n than actually talk about cars. as far as my unprofessional letter to greg, i stand behind what i wrote 100%. i dont know him, but from the e-mail he sent me, he seems like a dumb ass.

i think most of the people understand that the magazine is run by a couple of chucko's with full time jobs, that couldnt find their butt with both hands around the magazine industry, but we are doing the best we can and working out the bugs as we go.

I paid for a sub and my email reply said it would cotinue with #9(I still have that reply). Well never got #9 so I bought one at a show. Have not seen #10, I sent HotRodPhotos some money for it. I sent three emails to you guys and never even got a reply.

ron, i can't comment on your e-mails, because i have absolutely nothing to do with the shipping of the product, so when a question comes through regarding a sub, i delete it. thats galos end of things. now if you were some little hottie wanting to pose with a hotrod, then that is my end of things. anyhow, basicaly when we get the mags in from kentucky, galo and his wife stuff all the envelopes and they are shipped off in one batch bulk rate via the u.s. mail. we have tried several different methods through the u.s. post office and had the same results everytime. so now we are having the printer ship out all of the subs with the dealers. we have not had any problems with the dealers receiving the product, other than the occational hang up in customs for the shops over seas. we hope this will take care of this problem. about 85% of the time that we receive an e-mail regarding late delivery, its because either the credit card was declined or the subs ran out. then the problem was, that people didnt know their subs were running out, so we have recently made little renewal cards. anyhow, we hope that with issue #11 our shipping problem will be solved and we can start on the next 6 million things to work out.

I was told that the last issue would be out at the end of November at the LATEST by the ckd staffers, after they had not returned my calls twice. I finally got my issue in the mail just the other day, after I had bought one at a show thinking that it would never come in the mail. I don't mean to talk shit, and the staff seams very nice, but if they wanna keep that great mag running, they gotta get some shipping problems squared away asap! I have collected every issue since day one, even the 2 HRDs, and I don't wanns end my collecting now, so get yer act together please.

I got mine yesterday, plus the extra's that I got from Spike.
I dont have a clue what it would take to put together a magazine like that, but I'm guessing it is a massive amount of work.
I dont think anybody involved with CKD is pretending to be part of a big slick media giant, so they have the freedom to do things the big magazines cant.
But they dont have the resources the big ones have when it comes to shipping etc.
Any situation is a compromise.
Just like building a car. When you win a little here, you lose a little there.
Most people with a Technical background would understand that...
