hello all - well yes, its true. ive been lurking these boards for quite some time now & i thought it was finally time that i signed up. i know quite a few of the members on here that live in my area; south jersey/philly & central jersey & im looking forward to meeting even more of you.

some info about me: my 65 chrysler newport (black, lowered, loud, flamethrowers) has been my driver for about 6 years now & i believe that if you have a serious passion & love for your machine you will deal with all the ins & outs of living with a classic day after day. snow, rain, hot, cold - whatever it is, i say 'drive it!'

i have 2 65 chryslers - both 4 door hardtops; and i also have a 51 buick special - 2 door sedan. my black chrysler is a driving project and the buick is a parked project (for now). we all know they are never really 'done'.

anyhow, id just like to thank you all for all the info ive learned from this site so far & im sorry i lurked for so long. i secretly printed out some excellent tech threads & jotted down some excellent ideas without ever signing up before. but now i did it. im in. :D

thanks!

quick question though - on the general discussion board i posted a question about the 'shaving kit' that anti chrysler sold through the 'no sweat garage' site. the site doesnt seem to be up any longer & i was just trying to get some info about it. for some reason my post was deleted. didnt mean to step on any toes if i did. i was just wondering if the kit was still available or if someone could fill me in on the contents of the kit so i could gather up the goodies on my own.

burger - that truck is killer - i havent seen you around town? you seen me at all?

Thanks! The truck is getting blown apart and re-done this winter. A lot of things need to be re-done mechanically, and as long as I'm going that far....

I've seen your Chrysler around a few times. I get excited every time I see an old car on the road!

PS- You'll get the best results if you use metal patches when you shave the handles. Don't be the "previous owner" that everyone hates!

sounds good dude, next time you see me - gimme a shout.

WTF? ok, 1st time i posted in the general discussion & it got deleted, now I posted in the questions & suggestions & it got deleted. is this some sort of hazing process for FNGs? it's pretty frustrating.

anyhow, i read up on the cold weld compound and they said its the same stuff that they use to put new cars together. its supposed to be just as stong if not stronger than welding & since im not too experienced with welding sheet metal or bondo i think it would be more practical for me to go the simpler route. (unless of course someone is willing to show me the traditional way to do it, free of charge) i dont know - ive never done either. im more of a grease monkey than a body man. (obviously because my car runs & drives real nice but the body & paint look like hell)

either way - i suppose the no sweat garage is no longer open for business.
