Back in early 60s used to go to dirt track races in Waco, Tx. Probably same track that is there now. The photos are what it was!! Lots of tin destroyed only then it wasn't too old. Used to be a dirt track west of Rockdale, Tx. in the 50s, haven't been by in a while but 10-15 yrs ago you could still see its shape in what now is a cow pasture.
30 Roadster is not too far from Hot Rod Hell, a current dirt track on the northeast side of Bryan off SH 21. When I was 16 I bought a used 3/4 race cam & 2x2 setup off one of these old cars for my 85HP 37 Ford PU, traded truck before I put cam in but wish I had it now!

Ok, I forgot to mention only pic 1 and 4 are Bryan TX, the other two with the grand stands have a stamping from a photostudio in Dallas. So I assume the big track is somewhere around Dallas. But here are a few more from that place and a few unknowen ones. Quality is not so good on some pic's but action is better.

The photo with rollercoaster lights in background--may be wrong but I think there used to be a track near the old amusement park, Playland Park, in Houston many years ago? Maybe if someone would hypnotize me? Too bad Kyle doesn't use nitrous in his practice, that might jog my memory. Nah, shit like that is why I cant remember.

well we could always put a high intensity light on you and re-enact a scene from the marathon man - that should bring back something http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ...." who else knows?...are we safe?" YIKES!

those are some sweet pictures

Did anybody notice that the car in pic 301 is on fire?

Unfortunately, it's the same car as in 300 and 315.
It might even be the #38 car below.
Judging from the fact that the body is off and everybody and their brother is out on the track, that guy burnt-up http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That sorta sucks...

Holy shit! flatordead yer in Germany and you got pics from Bryan, TX?

I have a couple blown up pics from the race or race track in pic 50 and 301, like 16x20
Those white dots in the background are lights on an old wooden roller coaster!

There is a lady that sells the prints at the swaps around here in texas.

Cool pics!
