Well, it is a tragedy to us. One of our new members, Katie, went to pick up her new 57 Buick 2dr hdtp, only to find that a tree removal company had cut down a tree that landed directly on the poor Buick, totaling it. Not even really good for parts now, stupid bastards.

Yeah, at least in Okie the cars get blown over to Arkansas so you don't have to see them...

I think it's a Federal law...

People who aren't from Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota aren't allowed to own chainsaws.

I hope they're paying her for it...
Is there any H.A.M.B.ers on here who can write up an appraisal (postmortem)? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'll bet the new Toyota Matrix (or other late model POS) that was parked next to it escaped harm!

It can still part out good. Not all the panels and fenders are totaled. Then look at the mech, parts IE the engine (nailhead)and all the running gear If its not fixable at least it can be a good donor to keep some other autos on the road sorry and better luck in the future. Bobby,

[/ QUOTE ]Well, we thought about that. She was going to pay $200 for the car, and then $75 to get it hauled out of the woods. Now she would still have to pay $75 for the car, and spent the day getting the tree off the car. We found a really nice 54 Buick 2 dr hdtp for her for $500, that only needs minimal work to get drivable, so I think we won't even mess with parting the other one out. Besides, we really don't have anyplace to put it right now.

I think I'd drop the 75 (if the mills savable its worth that). Make the tree guy get the tree off (as opposed to off the tree http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and find a place for it.
To far to haul or I'd be after it myself. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am going to ask her if she is going to get it this weekend. I have no need for it, cause anymore cars in my driveway and the city will be on my ass, but if anyone is interested in it, I'll see what I can find out.

If a tree fell on my $200 car... I'd leave it there...

Which one is your $200 car?

There's so many differnt pieces of info here...
She hasn't actually bought the car yet?
It's "Just a pile of rust in the woods" as far as the tree cutter's were concerned?
I would venture to guess that anyone who's been cutting trees for more than a week can pretty well aim where they are going to fall, suggesting they dropped it on the car intentionally...
But it's up to whoever legally owned the car that day to go after them for it...

$200 worth or not, it's still tragic to have that happen to any old car. Sorry to hear about it.
