In the recent Big Book of Barris there are some good pics of the show version.

The picture that I'm looking for is the one that was on the cover of Car Craft,
it was a 3/4 view. It was the heavily kustomized one with white wall slicks. Thanks for the Help

Mick

Nope, no Car Craft, but how about Rod and Custom?

Interesting, no whitewall slicks and punched chrome rims in front.

I think there have been a couple of renditions of this car and a few "updates" of the one used for the Monagram model. I saw the car in person a couple of times in the 60's. It was like the model kit the first time I saw it. Desoto mill with multi carbs, floating roof (no "A" post), dune buggy style front seats and the rear seat area covered at the level of the bottom of the side window area.
The second time I saw it it had the interior replaced. It then had four individual seats. I think the multi carbs were gone. I spoke with someone at the display and they said the original radiator/grill setup (as on the model) overheated badly and that is why there were various changes in that area as the years went by.

I love the article on the Cover "How to make working steering"

I hope there talking about a model.

It is truely one of my all time favorite rods.
Does anyone know if they ever offered the Lil Coffin in a 1/18 diecast?

BTW, I'm gonna start saving up for that coffin. If I can afford it before I die I'm putting it in my living room.

My favorite rod... I really like it in both configurations too; the early non-chopped and the later one recreated in the modelkit. Todays vertion is just sad. Overheating? Get real, it used to be the worlds coolest showrod with no compromises at all; now its compromised into neither being cool as a showpiece or useful as a roadcar...

I'd buy a 1:18 die-cast model of it (in its former glory) in a heartbeat.

Thumbs up to Brush for a nice piece. The original modelkit boxart rocks too.
