anyone see the HALL OF FAME article in the March 04 CR??? check out the "Golden Nugget" 34 Ford Bill built back in the day. the article does'nt say much about it other than it was one of his most famous cars but if you will remember i posted pics of this car as it was/is being restored quite some time back. our own HOT ROD DRUMMER and his ole man built the VERY trick chassis for the restoration of this ole girl. i believe the car was featured at the very first Detroit Autorama nearly 52 years ago. it's current owner (forget his name) is eyeball deep in the restoration as we speak. maybe HRD can fill us in on some of the details that i am not as up on.

a really cool car with some great history. glad to see another historic custom rod being reserected. CONGRATS Bill Hines on a life time of building beautiful CUSTOMS!!

Mike His hane is Larry Jordon(that is the correct spelling)and he lives in Jackson MI.I was just up to his shop the other night striping a bike for a friend of his.Larry is really a great guy.I only met him a couple years ago when I was;what else?;up his shop striping a bike for the same friend! He had a shop full of cars then and as I painted we got to talking.During the conversation the topic turned to old show cars and he asked if
i had ever heard of the Golden Nugget. It sounded vaguely familiar and as he began to describe it the lights flashed on!Hell yeah said I that was one of my favorites back in the 50's and he said,"you wanna see it?".And sure enough;out in the back of his shop sat the car!Didn't look nearly as nice as it does now(or when it graced the pages of the little books)but there it was!
He related how he had obtained the car(way too long a story for here)and it did my heart good to think another old car with a history would be ressurrected.
I gotta go;it's waaaay too late and I am beat! Fell asleep in my chair awhile ago eating dessert and drinking my (probably)umpteenth cup of coffee today.2 and 1/2 hours sleep is not enough for the old body. TTYL
