I want to put a different type of bumper on my 60 chev wagon. I've been thinking about having the exhaust tips coming out of the bumper. Which cars had this and which ones would likely be the best fit?

Old caddys and 56 ford come to mind. As far as fit you'll need to get your measuring stick out.

Just drill two holes in the bumper and make the exhaust come out of it. Nate

Didn't the 49 Buick have that also. I seem to remember it on that salmon prostreet one Rads Rides by Troy built in the early 90s.

Doesn't the '60 Chevy have a rear pan below the rear bumper? Why not exit them there instead of thru the bumper?

I've always heard most wagons had exhaust exit at the side of the car instead of the rear because exhaust gases from a rear exit tailpipe swirled around the back while the car is moving and into the rear window area and thru the tailgate if the rubber seals are bad...out the side it's forced into a stronger air stream...you sure you want exhaust coming in the rear?

Good point 40studedude! I should maybe rethink this. I don't want to get gassed. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Take the rear bumper ends off a '57 chevy, and cut out the oval shape. Turn signal, and marker light housings can also make good through the bumper tips.

56 Lincoln has oval ports in the bumper under the taillight...

A buddy of mine took the last 2 inches off a set of Bellflower tips and welded them into holes on his bumper , then ran the exhaust out those holes ( the exhaust was about a 1/4 inch smaller in diameter ) it looked pretty fucking cool after it was all chromed up .

I put mine through the bumper where the backup lights were. removed the light fixture but kept the chrome trim ring.

They're still backup lights..

My 56 Ford Vick has provisions for em. Damn, those little pieces are expensive as hell though! I'm just running tips right now and may stay the path.

May eventually go w/ gas injection flame throwers and don't want to scorch ma' chrome and deck lid http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
