Hers a shot you guys might appreciate of my buddy Jack's slingshot canopy dragster that was restored a few years ago. Car was one of the most beautiful to ever grace a dragstrip in the late fifties and early sixties. The hump ahead of the motor was where the original Potvin front drive blower used to reside, but the car later ran the top mount jimmy as seen here. He still has the old Potvin though. This car won best appearing at the 63 Winternationals and was a record setter a number of times, but it's the esthetics that really make it a cool car.

Something that is sorely lacking from Top Fuel drag racing these days. Aesthetics. I guess the whole idea is to go as fast as possible, but for some reason, the new cars just don't DO IT for me like the front engined rails.
Very nice car indeed. Any more pics of it?

Back in the day cars had personalities of their own. Watching the drags today, well it sucks. Take the sponsor names off the car and what do have? the same car. Post more of that great fueler, the people DEMAND it....please. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wish I had more pics that I could post... but they are not digitized. That pic that was posted from the van isle reunion was cool.... the car behind it in the picture was built by the same guy back in 1951. It was a brand new car and he chopped it and customized it...then stuck a 1937 Caddy V-12 in the thing!! It was and still is a georgeous car... and the lead and other bodywork are still mint. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This is a good example of how progress can ruin a good thing.NHRA,NASCAR,etc. all cookie cutter cars now. No individuality. That thing is beautiful.

Those shots came from Glen Montgomery's photo albumn.
Mart has posted a selection of them on his page. These particular shots are among a group of pictures Glen took at the Lincoln Park strip in Calgary (Present day location of Mount Royal College) in '62.
Some where arond here I have a Bench Racer cover which features the Syndicate Scuderia at the Pomona Winternatioals too.
That's a wicked digger! Is it likely that it will appear at the CHRR? Sure would be nice to see it up close and personal . . .
Thanks for posting the pictures, guys.
WOW~! Thanks for the pics. That thing is weird in the coolest sense of the word.
