View Full Version : simple? question, '56 Buick
my dad has asked me to start his '56 Buick and drive it around whilst he is out of the country.
problem is the keys he left, and I am sure they are the right ones, don't turn in the switch.
what am I not doing right?
it's an automatic and all mechanicles have been restored.

Try pulling the key back slightly as you turn it. Sometimes when keys are cut, they are not positioned properly. Hope it works, Frank

it think it's a foot starter, the key is just to turn ign on and off. turn ign on and push gas pedal to the floor (or until it engages the starter).

Pump the gas three or four times turn on the key it only has one position on or off, then like they all said push the gas pedal to the floor and the starter kicks. Just be carefull when it cold if you go to pump it with the key on it will do wonders for the bendix on the starter.
