...Well, I started out modifying & tuning 2 stroke engines in the 80s', when I was working in a sheet metal fabrication shop...then got a couple classic UK cars (PA Cresta & Velox) but really wanted a rod....managed to get a matt black & flames 3 window 32 and had a ball...but wanted it to go like a bike (So to speak) and have the trad beam axle hinges etc, so after building and fitting a strong 350 chevy, I sold it and built the silly 32 that Vinnie has posted for me in the classified forum....it's got a Built BB chevy, 4 speed and locker....very good fun!!!..there are ring marks on the rear treads where the bobbed rear fenders tickle the tyrewalls (Due to engine torque twisting the car on it's suspension)...right hand side has a noticable mark on the tyrewall (Power on)..left hand side much smaller mark (Power off for gear change).

Anyway, Vinnie sent me a link to the ad he placed to help me out and I started browsing the posts on here and decided to join.....there are many varied views and that's a healthy thing.....but I would like to point out that my car isn't billet & chrome...its homemade in a single garage and took me years of hard graft...all shiny bits are stainless & alli..it rains loads over here, so durability is a good idea...... the rod was built to be and has been hammered like a goodn' on the street for 8500 (mostly non highway), miles....but that's why we make them isn't it?....

This year, I destroyed the 3rd member as the pinion gear ripped through the casting of the 9" Ford rearend at the Nostalgia nationals during a burnout...(VERY embarrassing)....but it was on the road again 4 days later to drive to the Americana in Newark..with a Strange street strip 3rd member........I'm going to weld the remains of the old 9" 3rd member together to make a dog ugly trophy and the NSRA are going to use it as the "Hard Luck" award for next year for the worst damage, (Provided it's a street driven car that brakes..)

I also love rockin' tunes...go to weekenders regularly (To watch, listen, drink and eventually dance)....and play a Gretsch 6120 (Badly) through a plex tube echo and Peavey Classic 30.......and also started making fixed arm bigsby handles 1955 style setups for quite a few rockin players..and swivel versions, too......

Currently helping my buddy who bought a deuce flyer with a 2.6 V6 Granada engine.....for some reason it's now got a custom built chassis and a 427 Rat with muncie gears....wonder why he made that choice?....anyway, he'll let me play in that when mine's sold....and the balance of rods to crap normal cars is maintained.....

Vinnie ('54 Chevy), me, (32 for now) and Frosty (55 Caddy) are the Camtwisters.....

I'm Currently selling the rod to start a new project based on a pair of aircraft seats I found in Holland..... you know it makes sense.....

It certainly sounds like you're in the right place! Welcome, and please don't be shy about posting pics.
Tech week is on the way too...

Zerk,
thanks for the welcome....if I can help anybody with stuff, then no problem...for example on the tech thing...I made my prop loop (Which saved my ass when the diff let go...but took the prop, out...)..by producing an autocad drawing of my design which i'd done in wood first on the chassis till I was happy....and then my buddy cut it on a laser cutter at his work (Cost me a pint).....anyone who wants the dwg file is welcome...got them for a few other bits, including the stainless headers' BB Chevy flanges with 2" primarys, 3 bolt rings 3 1/2" for the collectors, 2 1/2" for the pipes/mufflers...etc....Clutch is operated by a bellcrank assembly also done in stainless..under the floor..it doesn't leak or stretch (like a cable)....and there's drawings for that as well....

I'd post pics if I was any good with websites...but i'm useless...will have a go, tho'..hope it works

cheers for now,
pete
