Not exactly sure how I stumbled on to this site......but glad I did. A little about myself.

Born in upstate NY smack in the middle of the snow belt. Been a part of racing and cars my whole life. Rebuilt my first lawnmower engine at the age of 5, then it goes from there lol. As I got older I fell in love with the open wheeled, flatheads, red wheeled, white walled machines. When I came to Germany with the military in 97, people looked at me like I was crazy when I showed them cars I like. Europe being mostly "fast and the furious" I was starting to feel like a dieing breed.

Got out of the Army in 2001 and started working as a mechanic for a company that is contracted by the military. www.drash.com (http://www.drash.com) We hired a friend of mine, a local (German), worked as a panel beater by trade. When I talked to him about hotrods in the states he was shocked. Showed him websites and pics of car shows. He had no words, he has never seen anything like it. He said he now understood why its a "way of life" or cult and not just a fad, or trend.

In short I have now found the perfect site :). Having searched over and over and only finding the cookie cutter type sites full of commercials. This place is everything I am, want to be, dream of and hope to be. Keep up the great work....hopefully someday I will get back to the states and be able to post something :).

Later.......Snafu (Sal)

Hi Sal,
There are a few of your neighbours here as well ya' know. Germany is a pretty big place but it has it,s HAMBers. Some in Switzerland, Austria, Belgium,Denmark too. At least 4 in Holland, including me. So your surrounded.
Maybe a few German guys will drop in and show you the way. What,s your city / village ?? BTW, Germany is hosting the Euro Street Rod Nationals in 2006. July 20th i believe. Place called WIELBURG/HESSEN. 45 minutes from FRANKFURT. So that gives you 9 months to get a ride. Otherwise there will allways be cars for sale on the day.

Not here for ever and it's more comlicated than just buying a car. I have no place to put it, work on it, do anything to it. No garage, not even a driveway to use. Plus all the neighbors have sticks up their stink holes so no chance even checking the oil in the street. I live in a small villiage north of Mannheim. About 40 minutes south of Frankfurt. I was at a show recently in Sinsheim, was a friends show. It was a good time, but the cars were just not for me. Alot of soldiers brought their "show room floor" cars with K&M air filters, and the rest was "fast and the furious". More plastic and neon lights than I could stomach. The second day a few hot rods showed up and the after party was good. I will check out the show next year. Sounds like it should be good.
