I was wondering if someone had a napa part number on a fan belt for a 324.? Or at least the proper length. I trying to get all the little things in line so I can get it running. Thanks ahead of time. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been busy getting stuff done. I do continue to lurk. Here's a pic of the beast. Like them super rare valve covers? I thought you would. Also need a source for proper bushing for distributor. Any ideas?

I can't help you on the belt, but really do like the valve covers. know of any more of them?. i have seen one set on some pictures posted some time ago. they gota be super rare. i'd trade my Edmunds covers for a set of those.

are you gonna run the generator on top of the intake manifold? if so you need the fan belt for a 303.

Lakes Mod, No, I bought these off ebay. I was told they stopped making them in 1951. Don't have any proof on that but Gotha went out of biz in the early 50's sometime. I really dig them. 1956 324's have a #10 on the heads right above the center exhaust ports wheelspinner. I will be using a alternator from a late model mopar. I like the looks of the case(aluminum)so that belt wont really matter on length. Just gotta make a bracket to work. I was just curious if someone had a an old parts book that listed that sort of thing for the fan belt. No biggy if no one can answer. I was just curious.

Dale, looking good man!!!
Spinner, you've got a 55 324, the heads on your motor prolly have a # 8 on them.
cool valve covers Dale but,
what's with the question about the belt?

I don't know Paul. I guess I was just looking for any excuse to post on here again. Was hoping someone had a correct part number or length for the fan belt. I got one but it seems so damn tight. Just looking for a lil input from some of the olds guys. I am gonna finish this thing . I promise.Any thoughts on getting my stock dizzy rebushed? I'm not very good on the mechanical end of things. I just love to fab.

George, You may be right about that! I'll never tell the truth though. Have you ever seen a pair before? I haven't.

Since you are using headers, and the Generator bracket was tied into the exhaust manifold, you are going to have to relocate the generator. It is going to be hit or miss with the belts.....
Hey Dale,
I know how long it CAN take to build a car! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
looks like youve made some serious progress since I saw it last- looks good!
it's kinda hard to see in the picture there but,
is that a Rotophase dist.?
and if you are using a Mopar alternator (good choice for looks)
in a non stock location why not just measure for a belt?
you know, use a length of 1/4" rope and tape it together, match that at Napa.
you could call Hagen's in Puyallup about the stock dizzy bushing,
but it would be cool to see that setup you got there working!

Paul, I not concerned with the alt. belt as I have not fabbed a bracket for it. The alt is in the shop getting rebuilt along with the starter. I was mainly interestin in the crank pulley to water pump belt. Just thought someone might have an old book with figures or part number listed. No big deal. You should come by this weekend if your not doing anything. Have you been to my new house yet? I thought you were over here once before. I'll see if I can nudge you off the wagon.(just kidding!) Going to paint store today to get some bodywork supplies to get started. Almost all fab work is done except a few little things. Measuring up driveline today as well. I'll get with Hagens on that dizzy bushing. I'm gonna run the stock dizzy first to get it on the road. The Roto-faze is gotta have the proper drive put on it. I contacted Roto-faze(there still in biz) and have not heard vback from them yet .I want to send it down to them and have them change it over to early olds. I think it needs to have something done internally to get it to work properly because it is set up for the wrong rotation. Still investigating this aspect. Like I said, I not too good with that kinda stuff.(Probably why its taking me so long to finish) It will go in the car eventually if all elso goes right. Headers took a long time to build from scratch. Turned out ok, I guess.Call me if ya wanna stop by-----Dale

headers don't exist.
you have to build your own.
somebody on here was gonna cut some flanges,or you could look on ebay.
you should probably introduce yourself in the newbie section too.
if you have any other Oldsmobile related problems start a new thread and ask for help from the "Rocketeers".
