Went to the HammerArt deal at Gasoline Alley. I could not stay very long had to go to work. It was really cool alot of cool cars, free food and beer, and bands(even if I had to leave before that).

There are a few pix here

To bad you had to leave and go to work Ron. Plenty of free beer and the chili was really good. The bands were playing some good music too. Thanks to Kulture Pimp for having the shindig. It was your shop...was'nt it??? Real good turn out and everyone had a good time. Hope you guys have it again next year.

Thats the car Marv Carmen won the little 500 in it's owned by Don Smith of Terre Haute Indiana and is being restored by Van's Metalcraft. Bob Harkey works there if you know anything about racing you know he ran Indy, Sprint, Midgets, and Stock Cars, BUT I bet you didn't know he did the stunt driving in the movie Thunder Road.

You will have to ask Racer5 about that car. See his post a couple up. I don't know anything about other it was some very nice work.

BTW This is Racer5's car. You should have heard it when he started it with the open headers. Sounded wild, never knew a flathead could sound so mean http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

racer5c....Thanks. I saw Marvin Carman win the USAC Silver Crown race at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in 1984. Of course I've heard of Don Smith and Bob Harkey too... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Smith has an extensive collection of vintage race cars.

Didn't know about the stunt driving.

I had a swell time there as well. The beer was definitely going down good. I was moving a little slow on Sunday at the Nats.

I met up with racer5 at one of the hotel parking lots in Indy. I thought that car sounded reall good for a flathead through the exhaust, I can only imagine how well it sounded open headers.

We had to leave early too but still had a good time, I think my friend's mouth is still burning. I liked that black 36 Ford roadster, spent some time swapping build stories with the guy who has the 36 Ford pickup and checking out a lot of the other cars. I'll be back next year if they do it again and I plan on sticking around longer.

I saw a couple of the cars the next day at the US Nationals. Ya, it was a good weekend. Thanks for the pics.
