We ended up putting that fuel pump in anyway along with new hoses and in-line filters. The car starts better than ever now. A little rattle-can action on the rusty battery tray and vent tube made the guts look a little nicer.

Yesterday I dismantled the drivers side door and we put in new window channel all around. Boy was that a pain in the ass! I was optimistically thinking I'd get both doors done yesterday but after we finished the first one the second one wasn't gonna happen.

Maybe door #2 will go better...

I am really enjoying not hearing my window rattle anymore though, so I guess the ordeal was worth it.

What did you do?

Got the new hardlines for the compressor in the shop. All high pressure Galvanized steel. Of course it leaks. So I'm gonna pull it apart and use dope instead of teflon tape.

Spent a day scrapeing about 50 years worth of crud (a shop vac full) off the front crossmember and chassis (engine bay) of a friends supposedly probuilt Stude.
We pulled the professionaly built engine last weekend. What a piece...
Got about 8 hrs worth of rewireing to do...
Pardon me while I rant.
It's gonna be sweet when we finish straightening out all the work the "pros" did and get the backyard built mill in it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
A worthwhile project... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Took the late model truck that Killer, Jeff from Devious customs and I built to a truck show out in the middle of BFE (that's right by killers house by the way). I know that it isn't related to anything traditional (well except channeling it, Z-ing the frame, etc...) but you asked...

I got my motor mounts and rear crossmember tacked in the frame for my 32 p/u.

http://photo.starblvd.net/~NealinCA/2-1-3.jpg

I also got the k-member cut out to clear the T-5 transmission and brought the cab in the shop to start work on it. Of course I had to set it together to see what it looked like.

As you can see, the windshield area on the cowl needs some work.

Found a restoration shop that will fix the Vic. and dropped her off.

CHA-CHING!

It wasn't really anything special, but it sure does feel good to not walk out the door every morning and see that f'd up paint http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Could'nt see spending $61 plus s&h for a new floor brace for the '49 so $8 dollars worth of steel and one football game on the radio later I had one brand new passenger side floor brace done! Pretty fun and pretty easy, definately no show piece but not too bad either - I figure by the time I build the other 3 I need should be pretty good at it! The others will be even cheaper as I will go to the steel wholesaler instead of the hardware store for my materials. If you are needing new floorbraces in your shoebox I would encourage you to try building your own. I am no great talent but seemed to have built a piece that will work at considerable savings. After the braces are done then I am gonna tackle replacing the floor-

I spent the weekend cleaning up the front end of my GMC p/u chassis and painting it. Took apart one front leaf spring cleaned it and painted and a few other bits. also put my brake cylinder back on and ordered a load of bits from Chevy Duty to start putting it all back together.

Not bad for a weekends work.

I started to fill my decklid. Here is the before:

http://209.25.161.36/images/dan/fate/decklid1.jpg

this is the after photo when I sliced the top and center of the license plate pocket and popped it out and filled the 50 factory holes for the decklid handle assembly.

This week it will be mud slinging central to fill it all up and make it purty.

I cleaned out the garage and did a fluid changing bolt tightening session on the cheby b4 driving it down South to GEEMAN'S shindig. I inspected all the welds on my Death Rod's two link air bag suspension. 2 YRS no cracks.

Worked on my '48 F1.

Started with a cab, front fenders, hood, doors, bed, '78 Camaro front clip and 40' of steel.

Ended up with the new frame rails attached to the GM clip, and it's ready to start designing the rear suspension.

I have a long way to go, and more pictureshere on my site (http://liberalredneck.org/gallery/48Ford).

The blocks are just holding up the fenders, the truck is sitting on it's own wheels, and 6" stands in the back.

Made the wife happy...built in the closet in her craft room to make a work table, storage shelves, and pull out sewing shelf. Not hot rod related but it was too damn cold in the garage this weekend to be out there anyway... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've spent the last 3 months trying to get a late model into primer for a show this weekend...

Ended up being a Thursday-Sat type o thing to get it there...

Then I proceeded to drink myself silly Saturday night at the truck run...

I also managed to crop dust OGNC a couple of times...

Put a new gas pedal in the squarebird. Bled the brakes. Replaced the passenger side exhaust manifold gasket that leaked enough to nearly send me to the rubber room! Gawdamn I hate exhuast leaks. Put a thermostat in so I can finally use the heater on my winter commutes. I still have a couple days left since I work four tens.
