Thanks Shiny,
The highest point of the top ( when I was mocking it up ) was 47" from the ground.
In the 3rd pic you can see me sit in the car, I still have enough head room...
The Hardtop will be removable, and I also want to make a folding top for it ( and I want that to fold up inside the car )

Could you please tell me what make those lil taillights are and a closer pic would be really nice if you would? That car is super. I appreciate your vision. Some guys have it! What are you gonna due for a header and what type of top latches are you gonna use?

Curbspeed, The tail lights are '39 Packard.
The header panel ( the part thats right over the wind shield? ) will be a part of a '32 roof I have got, the rear window is '32 as well.
At the front 2 bushings slide over the top part of the windshield post, with set screws. just like a regular Roadster top would clamp down, in the back I'll probably use a couple of lunch box latches on the inside of the car, with locating pins.

Looks terrible. I would scrap the whole project if I were you.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. What you need is a chopped coupe. I just happen to know a guy that has one..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Those are the exact taillights my brother put in his A coupe 20 years ago. Must be something about A's and Packard tailights. Good conversation starter, since they "almost" look like 39 Fords.

Spike, I know it looks terrible. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
But I dont think I'm going to scrap it, I need all the practice I can get before I start to build my Coupe.
Did you know about that car or are you talking about an other one?
I P/M'd you about the CKD magazines.

Thanks for the info. I really dig those taillights. My brother lives in Tucson. He just bought himself a hiboy 33 Ford 3 window(red fiberglass car) with ETIII's on it. Quickchange,289,4spd. Built like a Tom Prufer car. If ya see him around, go up and say hi. Keep up the progress. Looks good.

Curbspeed, if I run in to him I'll tell him Hi...
Kustombuilder, I tried to build it on a 4" channeled and Z'd Model A frame first, but I would have stuck out of it way to far.
So now I sit on the belly pan, between the frame rail and the driveshaft tunnel.
The floor boards, fire walls, tranny/driveshaft tunnel and outside skin of the car are all load carrying, and tie in to the boxed frame rails. ( The car is really stiff, so the suspension can work better )
6" height of the American stamping 'rails + 4" of the channeled model A rails + an inch or so for the floor braces on top of the A rails is about a 11" difference in interior height!
All that difference in height means I can have a lower roof...
BTW, I am 6'2" and the car is 3'11".

i think i'm gonna need some pictures of that http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif. sounds great though. i like creative ingenuity like that. stuff only a few of us even notice. and we spent so damn much time doing it too. it's a sickness ya know?
that is gonna work out great!
I have a plan for one for my rpu,
but will have to get used
to the 4 degrees of visibility,
(versus 360)
can't wait to see it almost done.
