Yes, Doug Nash is in the house.

The bullet,
You bet that would have been the way out of this catastrafy. But it's too late, the pistola is empty and so is my pocket. If I change just one fitting, move something just one inch, well hell, that could set me back at least a month or so. Done that a couple times now, and you wonder why I hav'nt posted much on the car. What a nightmare. But, we are packing excellent scrub, 4" of wheel travel, and components to handle the hps. (If we hook up) Man could I tell you some stories on some of the set-up of this thing. If something stikes you as different, let me know and i'll post the pics of whats going on there...........

Whaddya gonna do for pedals? Will you use a hydraulic throwout?

rogue
01-05-2004, 12:59 AM
Thanks you guys. The pedels are swing willwood. 7/8 bore. I had to run through frame fitting under the car to make a clean transition. The throw out bearing is hydraulic, but i'm not happy with its design. I also have a slave cylinder that pulls but looks crude on the frame. So, I am now starring down the gun barell getting ready to modify my 300.00 hydraulic pos. Ain't this supposed to "slip together" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. what steering are you using?side steer?what box?
I reckon 30 31 RPU's are the future-so much more cowl room, plus that funky beltline bit where it curves up to meet the screen..
sorry but im stealing your Xmember design, i like the 'ladder' look and makes running lines thru easier.
I hear you on the fitting it all in thing-I spend more time measuring and trying to work out the repurcussions of changing things than i do building!

That looks fun as hell, but, like your old truck, Im curious to how well one fits in there.

I mean, Im only 5'8", so Id probably be ok, but I can imagine the hiarlarity of watching Roothawg (like 6'2" or so) try to squeeze in that thing. Am I wrong here, and there is more leg room than I realize? Or is it a tight squeeze?

You do very nice work indeed Rouge, thanks for sharing!

That is one nice RPU Rogue.

I am in the collecting parts stage for my RPU. I hope that mine turns out half as nice as yours. I love the close attention you have to the little details. To me that is what makes for a truly bitchin car.

I hope I can see that thing in person sometime and learn a few things.

Where you at in San Diego? I would pay a twelve pack of beer admission to see that car up close.

Keep us posted on the progress man.

Rogue, I'm not doggen on the roadster, I like it my only question is how are you going to run the tube axel with the hair pins. Unless I'm all wet they don't twist enough to run with HP's It's kinda an unwritten no no isn't it?--TV http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I hate to be critical of people projects, because I am far from a know it all, but I also thought that a tube axle was only supposed to be used with a 4 link. However, doesn't speedway sell the tube axle kits with the wishbones? How about a chassis expert stepping up here?

I think it looks awesome by the way.

It IS a Speedway tube axle and bones.
The way it's put together the frame should lean with the front end and not the rear end....Rogue splained it to me cuz i asked him about it too... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Keep us posted on your hyd. clutch setup. I just bought the same pedal setup and a pull slave cylinder and was looking at the slave cylinder wondering how/where the frig am I going to mount that thing. Looks clumsy. I thought about a hydraulic throwout and asked on here about it but it just didn't sound like the way to go either and bleeding the throwout on my choice of motor/trans just looked like a nightmare. Post some pics of what you end up doing!

rouge,

How do you minimize the picture file so you can post the picture?

Roger

Tudor
07-26-2004, 09:09 AM
one way to do it is - edit the size with windows and save it as a smaller pic - check the properties and make sure it is less than 70k - or upload it to a pciture host website like www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) - start a album for free, then hit "image" under instant ubb code and post the link -the picture can be any size then - look under "questions" under main index - there are many tutorials there

that car needs a SBC to be cool - run of the mill hemis with 6 2's are just overdone these days.
