hi all-

I stumbled onto this site while trolling for info re my new project, a 1950 ford coupe. Its an original six that I'm putting a 52 Merc motor into (scored that one for $125, complete!!) with a T5 behind it. Its going to be lowered a bit, nosed and decked and some skirts, front discs and I'll be happy. Bought the ford an an old edelbrock 2x2 manifold with 2 94s for $1000 from my grandfather. As he was handing over the keys he says, "Youre not going to make this into a hotrod, right?" I just smiled and he rolled his eyes. He taught me nearly everything I know about cars, he was a marine mechanic in WWII and has been selling auto parts ever since, so its a family thing.

Other than the Ford I've got a '77 Chevy C10 and a '60 austin healey, the truck is a bit tatty but goes like hell and has 250k on it. Great for trips to the yard. The healey is 100% restored (used to be my mom's! she's had it since she was 16!) and doesn't get driven near enough. There's also a '47 Dodge pickup squirreled away for a rainy day.

Other stuff I've had lately is a '52 M38A1 I sold last year, after a FULL resto and a '67 mustang I beat the hell out of, 289 with a toploader, wich I still had that car!

Other than that I'm a grad student a JHU about a year away from my Ph. D. And when I'm not working on a car I'm riding/racing my mountainbikes. I have this obsession with things with wheels. Oh and I sell some parts online for the shop, so if you need DEALS on brake or suspension parts for just about any american car 1950-2005 or later imports let me know and tell me you're from the HAMB.

Thanks and check my sig for pictures and progress on the ford!

Chris

Welcome!

I've attended several work-related science & technology conferences at the JHU campus in Columbia.

Sounds like you'll fit right in to the HAMB. The eastern seaboard is becoming a small hotbed of HAMBactivity. The Hot Rod Hoedown was at Kahunaville earlier this month, the Karb Kings hosted the Greaseball last weekend, you'll want to attend the Rusty Nuts' Jalopyrama on 5 Nov. in Glen Burnie, MD. Finally, the Jalopy Showdown will be next May.

Here are two websites; the first is the old one, the second is the replacement and is still under construction.
