It has been a good week. Got my frame rails extended a while back with new '32 frame horns and installed the crossmember about a week ago. Then installed the front suspension.

After that I moved on to the engine mounts. Got 'em in the other day and tossed the 283 in just to see how it all fit.

I had to try the body and bolt up the trans too. Now I feel like I have a car and not just a pile of parts. I can sit in it and make car noises now!

This week I mount the tires on the wheels and mount the fronts to the car. When I get an idea of the rake I want, I'll get the rear end mounted. I hope to have a roller by Valentine's Day.

I ride in September.

Since this pic was taken (this AM) I have narrowed the grille shell 1.25 inches. When mounted over the front crossmember it comes to the outer edge of the frame rail just like the cowl.

In this pic the grille shell is pushed back a bit so it would sit up on the frame rails without falling off. I now have about 2 inches between it and the fan.

It looks like you made a lot of progress in the last couple of weeks......tell me about the rear axle. HRP

The rear axle is made up of parts from four rear ends (seems like each one I drug home was screwed up somehow).

Anyway, it has '40 housings and axles and a 3.78 gear (thanks to Crestliner). New seals and gaskets throughout. The QC is a fake bolt on item I found a few years back. It is much larger than the little ones Speedway sells. Its good enough to fool the 'chainers.

lookin good man, you're catchin up to me rapidly! actually we are almost at the exact same stage now, im doing rear suspension and centre cross member this week. what rear suspension setup are you using?Im doing a triangulated four bar with an 'a' spring on top of axle.trying to buy small quantities of seamless tube is frustrating the hell out of me this morning....no one in oz seems to know what d.o.m. is!

My rear suspension consists of that A spring and '46 Ford radius rods (connected to a shortened torque tube) and some tube shocks.

Very nice so far. I'm in the parts collecting stage of my own RPU project right now.

One question, whats with the small c-notch uner the motor mount?

The chassis started life in Boyd Coddington's shop and was set up for R&P steering (those are the little holes in the rails) and was going to run independent front suspension.

The little C notches were there to clear some of the lower independent linkage.

I'll fill it.

Barnett, your bones should ship this week.

That Whippett grillshell looks great with the A body. Looks like you have all the right parts to build a killer roadster.
