I thought about it and I deleted my photos and posts because I figured most of you guys don't give a fuck and my hearse is pretty off topic with regard to this board - it isn't a "hot rod"... it's a professional car that's been retired. It used to carry dead people.... it don't go real fast, it's not chopped... not channeled, no frenching, etc. blah blah blah

It is certainly not your run of the mill 57 Chevy or t-bucket.

Then I thought - you know, quite a few people (on and off this board) have expressed an INTEREST in this car - maybe, JUST maybe they are interested because it's NOT your typical hot rod. It looks DIFFERENT than just about every car on the road... The interest expressed is purely cordial, I'm sure.. but at least they're nice about it.

Yeah, I'm painting it a satin black... so freakin' what? If YOU lived where I live you would too. I HAD a shiney black ccar... it was a NIGHTMARE ... I owned it for 3 months and by the time I sold it the paint was just about ruined.

I got a shiney white truck - paint is just about shot on it and I've lived here a year.

So I'm not going to spend tons of money to put a real nice paint job on this car... I have no garage to preserve the investment.


I don't get it.. why would I paint the wheels red? Because everyone ELSE does? Is that your attempt at sarcasm? The wheels would look pretty ugly painted red IMO...

Personally I've never seen a hearse that is satin or flat black... they're all shiney.. nothing wrong with shiney if you're "into" that... I loved my 64 hearse shiney or not. It was a real bitch though.. it took about 24 hours to need another bath.

i for one have a more than cordial interest in your project ,i think hearses are great .when i was a kid my aunt was goin out with a guy that would pick her up in a hearse ,it was a very cool car.and i always thought it was cool that herman munsters ride to work was in the back of a hearse.

i used to drive a 63 licoln ,it was flat black and lowered infront , and i always got shit from restorer freaks about the sacrilege i had committed ,and by other dumb asses askin me where the funeral was,etc.
the thing is it was my car i built it the way i liked it and i loved driving it every where ,everyday. i only wish lincoln would have built a hearse with this body style.

There was a silver hearse locally that had the coolest paint job- instead of being flamed front to back,
it was flamed from the Bottom up, the whole way around. Wish I had pics. Haven't seen it around lately.

I like the Caddy hearse, and the Buick hearse and the Lincoln. Why? Because they are not like every other car out there! On the other hand, red wheels look good on a black car, no matter how many there are like it. Just because it's popular doesn't make it bad (or good). So, if you like something, do it. If someone else doesn't like it, who gives a shit? If someone else DOES like it, who gives a shit? It doesn't matter if it's the only one or one in a million, as long as you like it.

Greaser Frank showed Me a 47 Cad Coroners wagon recently and the thing still has the coffin in the back, I would'a opened it and looked inside but it had lots of parts and stuff piled on top of the box, I think it would be cool to make an ice cream truck outta it, I would buy it and paint Coroners Ice Cream on the side( and leave the original Coroners logo on the back), the slogan could be "When You feel a little stiff try Coroners Ice Cream" people would be dye'n to be try'n the slab sickles hahahaha. A friend of mine who owns a motorcycle shop in Huntsville, AL, has a Caddy hearse for his shop "truck". He cut a slot in the roof so bikes can stand up, then lined the floor and sides with metal (hand quilted on the sides). It is very cool.
