Hello all, I finally signed on as a member. So finally got my Dad to trade me his Roadster that he bought 22 years ago, it's a pretty neat old rod and was in the 1955 Detroit Autorama. I don't know much about it's history and I can't seem to get ahold of the guy who showed us the 1955 picture with the car displayed in the background at the Autorama. If anybody has any info or pictures of the car it would be greatly appreciated. The car is a channeled model A over 32 rails, deuce shell, pontiac taillights, it is blue with a black and white interior. It had a nailhead in it when we bought it but in the Autorama the car had a flathead which is what I'm putting back in, the Nailhead was a butcher job, the car has a ton of custom leadwork ( it originally was a coupe) Check out the photos, circa 1983, found in a garage in Trenton, Michigan at that time it had been stored for 25 years or so.

welcome,

cool old car. I think Chevygirlrox (in Ohio) was on here the other day looking for a nailhead, maybe you could unload it on her. Car looks real cool. I like the nailheads , but given the cars history, the flattie would be real cool too.

Welcome,

nice car w/history I'd say keep the nailhead...at least until you can get a flattie built.

The car looks almost exactly like it was when we bought it in 1983 except my Dad pulled the Buick and patched the butchered frame rails, he also set it up for a Flathead and it has sat ever since. My Dad did buy a full on Merc flathead though, it's got just about every speed trick you can do to a flathead, my dad's buddy sold it to him because it was just too radical for his 49 Merc Convert. I will have to go through the flathead because it's been sitting so long, I have to rewire the car and figure out what steering setup to run and hopefully I'll put it back in the Autorama and see what the old timers can tell me about it. Thanks for the interest in the car, I am still looking for some old pictures if anyone has any.

Hey Sewman, the nailhead is gone now and a merc flathead resides there. My brother has a Model A pickup he needs to get upholstered, do you have a shop?

Let me be the first to extend a personal invite to Autorama Extreme (ya know..."the basement") March 3-5, 2006. This neat piece of real Autorama History would be a great addition! bashton@autorama.com

Awesome car with history. It certainly should see AutoRama once again.
