I dont have any pics of thier work, but was wondering if anyone else had one of "The Adonis" 1960 Ford that they did.I saw a pic from an old book and thats where I got the spark to do my car.I always thought they did some great work, good ideals and great design flow,I dont think they really got the coverage they deserved, but they are tops on my list.

Anyone out there with knowledge of the current state of The Victorian? That is one of my favorite A-bros kustoms. First it was pearl white with red scallops (the middle car in the artwork below) and repainted in red candy.
I guess that most of you are aware of that the old custom parts in the AMT 56 Ford Victoria kit was patterned after that one. Though, the center console was patterned after the console in The Golden Indian!
Yes, by lookning at the parts in the old AMT kits you can learn some custom history...

I don't know my famous customs well enough to know who made what sometimes but right next to the Golden Indian in a photo album I have is the Starlet, a goldish 57 convert. If the A Brothers build this, I can post it also.

The brothers! Alexander & Smith
Yes, as many A Brothers customs as possible!
By the way: The car that sits next to the Golden Indian is The Venturian, a 56 Chev cvt.

The Alexander Bros. are very prolific customizers and builders. Their work was always clean and innovative in my eyes. I would have to put these guys up head to head with Barris, Cushinberry, Winfield any day of the week as one of the greats.
In a old Hot Rod or Car Craft annual from the late sixties or very early seventies, there was a pic from a carshow of a chopped '64 Impala they did. It was unusual for on account both sides of the car were different.
The front end had one headlight on the drivers side, while the right headlight was hidden behind it's tube grill. Same with the back end. The interior was different on each side. It was painted gold candy with a sunburst effect on the roof.
It was a remarkable car with a ton of neat little tricks. It wasn't gaudy, very clean and smooth, yet very distinctive. I have the issue and have been trying to find it to produce it's black and white photo.
The car has been in Chicago since I first saw it on the street in the summer of '73. I got to know it's owner back then, when he showed it at the '76 Amphitheatre custom carshow. It was repainted in a light blue candy scheme. It was a little worse for wear even then. It was street driven in all kinds of weather. The owner didn't realize the historic nature or how famous it was(to me). All he knew was he had a lowrider.
I lost track of the car by the late '80's. I believe the car is stored in Chicago. I have tried to locate it from time to time. No luck yet.
Does anyone know the name this custom had? Anyone have pics?
I have some stories about it. It's funny, ya never see or hear anybody write or talk about it. If I find the pic I know I have, I'll revive this thread and post it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I love that car, has some things I'd like to do to mine.

My favorite A Bros car was Dick Baileys chopped purple 50 Merc with white scallops that was on the cover of Custom Craft in Feb 62. The car was later featured on the cover of Popular Customs in 65 . In the article they mistakenly said that it was a revamp of Jerry Quesnels car. Any one with eyes would know that this wasnt true exept for my hero Pat Ganahl.

Got to meet Mike in Louisville at the 02 Nats. What a nice guy. HE visited with my brother and I for at least a 1/2 hr. Told us about finding the truck (if memory serves me it was then owned by "The Egytian" in Dayton Ohio) and the complete rebuild of it. HE was selling these hat pins but gave each of us one, damn cool to get that.
