Boy i've been thru this before but these ones are in there good. Been trying the pull the axles from an 8" which prolly haven't been out since they were installed in '66. I've tryed the chain whip method and it just aint workin.
Any other sure fire suggestions?

the slide hammer works the best, maybe if you have an old stle dent puller laying around you can use that and convert it to bolt on the axle flange

Ah yes the old truck pull method should have thought of that!

Works everytime........
I have my own... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif but most big auto parts chains ( Advance, Auto Zone ) sell them and some even have a "tool loaner program".

Sometimes you can just reverse the drum on the axle and use it as a slide hammer.

Too funny when I saw this post I thought it must be an 8"! I had the same problem on my ole 65 Mustang..Slide hammer time!!Man does this bring back memories of a hot summer in 1991!

Well a good old redneck method as described by sir FATHACK worked just fine. Hooked it up to my GMC 6.0 liter and WHAMO out she came. Leave it to a southern Michigan hillbilly to remind me of my redneck past!
Thanks all - Happy New Year!

I didn't have enough sense to use another vehicle when the axles in my 66 Lincoln wouldn't budge. I used the 3/8ths chain-whip method and hadda replace about 4 marred-up wheel studs afterward. I was sore for a week too. Damn!
