I will be upgrading my slow 1/4 air line with 3/8 line.
I will also be adding the selonoid's . I was going to take
pic's as well as notes. Do you all think this will be helpful to HAMBers?

i had 3/8" valves when i had my truck. the front almost hopped off the ground. they are up to 5/8" or 3/4" now i believe. with these old cars, you may want 1/2" in the front because that's where all the weight is and 3/8" in the rear. it's just a thought. good luck with it, anything looks killer on air ride.

yea im running 3/8 3/8 on mine its on reduced down from 5/8s valvs .it slow around 140 psi but if u run a 6 gal tank with 160-200 psi 3/8s is fast .anything bigger than 3/8s valves and line its hard to get a good ride hight cause u go up and down too fast

i am running 1/2 inch lines and valves in back and at 145 psi it actually hops off the ground. but it comes down slow enough to set ride height easily. 3/8 is probally better, but 1/4 is way too slow. i also have some experience with bags if you need help with anything.

Bagging unibody cars. I was told when bagging a unibody style car one must be super cautious because of the "excess" stress and torque the bags put on the vehicle ? Windows blowing out etc...
Is there any truth to this ? and if so how would one avoid it ?

i used to use 2 scuba tanks with a scuba regulator on my astro van (as opposed to the traditional on board compressor/tank setup) the regulator kept the pressure up around 300 or so psi. you wouldn't have diminishing pressure with use like you can with an on board compressor/tank. a nice little side advantage is that i have NO moisture in my system like on board compressors do; no corrosion!
as an answer to switchbladeteeth's question: i work at a honda dealer, and i see all those goddamn hacked to hell [unibodies] some even with hydraulics which do that 'three wheel' move and some with airbag suspensions, never once seen a problem with breaking glass. you're breaking most everything else under the car, but not the glass. it's about the same as when you jack up one wheel on a unibody and then you can't open the door because the body is cocked... the glass doesn't break then...

As far as unibody cars go- I doubt the info you got. Lincoln continentals and Mark VII-VIII's have all had air ride, since the early 80's. They're unibody cars.

Please take notes and pics when you do the upgrade. Have thought about upgrading my wagon's system.. Dont want super fast (fast bags) but with 1/4 lines it could use some help to get up faster... When I was doing the truck thing, you would see some serious set ups.. with scuba or welding tanks full of nitrogen being the norm for the super fast guys

on my 60 Ive got the half inch valves, tank and bags but ran the 3/8 line for an easy accurate setting on the road while I drive and watch for idiots!

I'm using 1/2" line front and rear on mine.
I've only got part of the installation done, can't do anymore until I put the body back on the frame.

they have a thing out now, when you start your car the air ride goes to your ride height automatically. i think the company's name is Accu Ride. just a suggestion for those who don't want to fool with the switches all the time.
