View Full Version : Tach help, Stewart Warner tach.
I have a brand new never used Stewart Warner tach from the 60's, it might be from the 50's. It has 40dg sweep. My question is: Can I get a transmitter for it? I know there's a few different kinds out there, one being the round and the other being the rectangular type. I was told that Autometer makes a new small compact one that works with the Stewart Warner gauges. Is this true? What do I have to do to make this tach work??
Pete-
Pete I e-mailed you the S-W website, they have a tech support section, they should be able to help you out.

Good luck finding one Pete and if you do let me know.I have one with the large square black box but it is a 4=cylinder unit. The car had a W&H DuCoil ignition originally and it can't be changed as far as I know.I'm still looking for a DuCoil ignition for a Pontiac.

Thanks Jim! Ill check it out.
Safari,
I actually bought a transmitter from a local guy here in Boston but it doesnt work, My father in-law is a crazy engineer, he's going through the whole thing for me but I was curious about finding an upgrade.
Im still not sure if I have the correct transmitter for the tach I have, maybe I have the wrong combo and thats why it doesnt work?? I dunno.....

You might try Richie Willet in Malden.I know Richie doesn't like to part with stuff but he might know someone that has one.I don't have his # handy but Billy Belmont has it.He might know someone also.If you talk to Richie tell him Ray Smith said hello.

Check with Williamson's Insturment Service. They have a web site and repair and service sending unit Sun Tachs. They convert them so they can be used w/o the no longer available batteries they they came with origionally.
They also have for sale used/reconditioned gauges and do swapping.
